John Stones transfer saga

I'm sure he wants to, but I'm pretty sure he didn't decide to hand in a transfer request on his own, and he shouldn't be advised to do it unless his agent in 100% sure the club will let him go.
possibly, but lets not go down the "poor young John boy being ill advised by money hungry agent" path...

It's natural he'd have been interested in a move/is interested. I think he'd happily stay here, but he has been swayed, for whatever reason, to try and force through a move. The wrong call. He's under immense pressure, but unfortunately that just made it worse. He's been an utter professional since day one up until yesterday. Martinez has really gone hard on this. The media should focus on his comments about the FA - and he's now not the only one saying this (Pulis etc.), about the window. Also, how bad it is for England's young players.

There's definitely a bit in that as well though mate. He will be getting advice from all angles and from all sorts, agents, friends, family, teammates, fans, every man and his dog. It'd drive you batty.

Poor lad. Bloody hell. It's a lot for a young guy. Probably got bad advice and is now feeling guilty and all sorts. No wonder Roberto has been banging on about protecting and supporting him.
Nah, he made a big boy business play and it is yet to be seen if it will turn out remotely how he was hoping. No need for pity and in fact it makes me sad that tears would be his reaction. It isn't over for him and in fact no matter what happens going forward he will likely have a life we all dream of with money, fame and glory

Looking like the club realises the importance of the next few days - we can only hope so.

Beyond that though we should not forget we should never be in this position. The Board has not supported the club financially, we desperately need investment, either from the board, new investors or new owners.
To go into this final week of the window with just two experieced CBs, one a 33 year old who had had bad hamstring issues in the past and the other a 21 year old being headhunted by the previous league winner has been ridiculously irresponsible by the board. And that is even before we lost Hibbert and Baines to injury leaving us with a half fit Oviedo plus Galloway and Browning as cover.

Risk management should be part of any executives job - the way they handled the backline depth can be compared to going into a casino and just betting the first 10 games on a spin of the roulette wheel.

100% he was there I was at the services, he seen us all and walked, someone said we know it's not you it's the board, he broke down Naismith dragged him away and said don't put too much pressure on the lad

Were people being sound to him like? Just like 'we love you and want you to stay', not angry or anything

The tears of Chelsea fans have broken Twitter on my phone.
