John Stones transfer saga

Martinez is playing this as well as he can. I am impressed.
Full credit to Roberto throughout the whole saga. He is doing his best to promote us still a huge club. Day after day week after week throughout this crazy transfer period he has been "championing our cause", despite the reality that we all know to be true, we are no longer that and will be bent over and folded like a cheap suit at some stage as long as we remain TrueBlue Holdings FC.

He realises, as stated in here previously, that if he sells Stones now his vision of building a top team challenging for silverware from youth is over.

Yip, we would.

I remember feeling chuffed at the thoughts of Real Madrid coming to us to buy Tommy Gravesen :)
There are certain clubs that when the want you, you go as they may never come back for you

I still think Real got the wrong player, I still think it was Carsley....

Thing is that is true about Martinez and defending, its something a lot of us have all been saying for two seasons now, not that it means it would be for the best for Stones to go and there are plenty of neutrals saying its best he stays.
What is best for Everton is what counts for us, he only cares about what is best for Chelsea, but regardless, Martinez is a poor manager where defending is concerned.
Can I just throw Mourinho and David Luis into the ring.

One of the strangest transfers of all time was Luther Blisset from Watford to AC Milan.

Legend had it they actually meant to sign John Barnes but the guy they scouting got the two mixed up.

:)

After his comments tonight, which in fairness is a massive statement of intent going forward; if he is still sold now after those comments, you would have to believe that Martinez could resign. Listening to his comments and watching his facial expression tells you all you need to know about how Martinez views this whole saga. If he is still sold, it would obviously suggest that its been done behind his back. The domino effect this would create would be brutal. I truly hope those excellent words from Martinez tonight have have been spoken because everyone at Everton is 100% behind it.

Mate I think you're right and I certainly hope so. I'd like to think the Board and Bobby have spent the last 24 hours choosing their stance and their words very carefully with a united statement of intent. 'Money can't buy you everything in football' is an incredibly bold thing to say right now - if City were to come up with say a £60m bid tomorrow, you'd now have to say 'no' to retain any shred of credibility. I hope that's the case and if it is I would say as a club we may have turned a wee corner...
