Not sure they outbid from what I read they were smarter in terms of payment schdules and smarter in terms of how they sold the club to the player . Irrespective my comments were in relation to a CD and from what I see Man Utd don't appear to be looking for an expensive HG player

True this.

Is no one's radar not going off. 5 transfer requests in order to put through the sale

As it suits the 'SELL TO BUY' agenda of this board.

Too much of a coincidence.

Tell me no ones buying it any more?

You may be right. It's gonna be hilarious if we refuse to sell him though.

Not that selling him will prove you're right like.

Let's take a step back. The last time Everton were asked about Stones Martinez said it was too late for a transfer request so it would make no difference. So I guess the most obvious explanation is that is where we are at. We don't want to sell.

It will be interesting to see if he is in the squad tonight, at his old club, with no doubt friends and family in attendance.

Thought we should have (and maybe we did) go to him and say "Stonesy, we don't want to sell you. We want you here for the future, but if you REALLY want out, we'll take the money." (if the money is absurd like) The timing is garbage, that's the biggest problem I have with it. If we can't find even a decent replacement then deny the request, and look to January. There could be more money in that window then there is now depending on other teams injuries, league placement, etc. I like(d) Stones but he hasn't been here long enough for me to have a meltdown over. As long as (if he's sold) the end result (and I know this is doubtful) is a stronger team after spending some of the money, then I'm not totally arsed about it. If we become weaker at CB but much stronger in midfield and up top, then I'm alright with it. Bottom line is a stronger team.

Article 15 of FIFA rules regarding players is entitled Players Terminating A Contract with Sporting Just Cause

An established professional who in the course of a season, appeared in fewer that ten percent of the official matches in which his club has been involved may terminate his contract prematurely on the grounds of sporting just cause

Or if he is is told to kick a ball around in some corner of Finch Farm by himself will say bye bye come seasons end and not a penny piece will be paid by whoever he then plays football for

We're splitting hairs as our club does not have the guts to do such a thing but we'd only have to name him as substitute and get him on the pitch in 3 more matches this season to meet that obligation.

As an aside if someone refused to play because their transfer request had been denied (hence Stones being in the corner of Finch Farm by himself) how would that person establish "sporting just cause"?
