Woolly Blue
Player Valuation: £80m
There's a big difference in play now: we cajoled players to leave (to further their 'ambitions') in the past to settle interest repayments; now that's taken care of with the extra tv revenue. The compulsion for players to leave now isn't there. Stones can easily stay on, he's not being forced out behind the scenes.
Rooney
Lescott
Arteta
etc
...no comparison.
I wasn't comparing this situation to those mate, I agree, they are very different.
edit : When I was talking about our best players I was thinking of our current best players rather than those who have already left.
Stones is at fault for the timing of this, but the board are also at fault for having a business plan which increases the chance of this type of situation happening.
Putting aside the extra wages which Chelsea will be offering, he's likely to have more significantly opportunities to play at a very high level with Chelsea ( Champions League ) than he is at Everton. The risk for him is that he's not guaranteed to be first pick at Chelsea.
