John Stones transfer saga

I think the best thing here is to tell Stones to do one (if he has handed in a request) - he's part of our plans for the season and it's too late in the day to change that now. It hasn't changed our stance that he's not for sale. I don't think RM will force him out - though if he has handed in a request it's very disappointing and he's made a bad decision/been given bad advice. Get him out of the squad for the next two games. If Chelsea bid an offer that we deem acceptable, sell him, as long as we've had targets lined up. Give them one shot. If their next bid isn't enough, tell them it's over, and Stones is staying.

After the deadline, integrate him back into the squad. Despite the reported request, I really don't think he's the type of player to sulk around the club. I think he'll still play his best.

Right move for Stones this - in terms of moving onto another club, which we all knew would happen at some point.

But it's the wrong time, and he's not done himself any favours now after acting impeccably all the way through the summer.

No issue with him leaving but it highlights that a 22yr old lad has more ambition then Everton.

Sell him, pay off another loan we have, give Roberto just over half, announce new Stadium plans and oh my what's this a Takeover then come January, we won't raise another eyebrow and come next summer extra cash and repeat with (insert Barkley, McCarthy or Lukaku)

This is EVERTON FC (Farcial C###S)

On the upside, we'll get more of the money now he's put the request in

And I think the club has had replacements in mind anyway

Today was realistically the earliest we could bid for Virge anyway. It was always going to come down to after the tie with Malmo

There's no way they would have sold him before that
5 days to go until the window shuts and we now need 4 players in.

Do you see any evidence we'll get 4 players in and money available to do that?

I wonder if Bill's planning a photo opportunity with his Barnsley counterpart where he hands over a giant cheque with their share of the Stones money at the game?

I don't think he looks like a knob at all.

He was pretty emphatic about it so I think the way this has developed since Sunday has come as a surprise to him.

Let's hope he is sufficiently outraged to tell the bugger to sod off, he is staying put.

He was pretty emphatic, if it comes to light that we sell the player - regardless of a transfer request (if the board told him to put one in or not), then he was a liar. simple as. He flat out said we wont be selling him, if the lad has put in a transfer request the club sets is stall and says sorry John, you are staying we reject it.

If the club has fabricated this and forced the issue to deflect blame... where does that leave us.

You really think it would come as THAT much of a surprise to them.....?

After the news last night I went to sleep thinking I might feel better in the morning. And do you know what..... I feel worse!! I'm on holiday at the moment and I'm constantly checking G.O.T. for news. Holiday ruined. Everton this.

I understand the logic mate, but there really is no way back for someone who hands a transfer request in. You could say Suarez over there did it, but he was a goal machine and hero worshipped. Stones is a defender prone to costly errors. Can you see him being forgiven this season if he stays and we're shipping goals at the rate we have since last season?

His last game for Everton was against Man City. Absolutely no question in my mind.

What a farce. Transfer list him to keep him happy and name our price of >£50m, if anyone wants him they can buy him, but at our valuation imo, and it has to go through in the next 48hrs.

I'd say there's a third.

We tell him he's not going because the transfer request came too late and we haven't received a bid to match his valuation, and tell the player we'll revisit in 12 months.

The player is aware of when he's leaving and the club has a year ahead of time to plan out the strategy moving forward.

That's actually the only viable option in my head if the club is ran remotely right.

Fully agree mate - the only thing I would change is to suggest that rather than telling him he's staying, RM would want to persuade him to stay - that's his style. May not make an ounce of difference to the outcome, but I just think that's how RM is playing it.

We need a statement from the Board here - right now. It's time for the board to grow a pair, stand up strong and say no way Jose. Stones ain't going nowhere this season.

Stones should then be made to unblock trap 3 at Finch Farm with his bare hands. The infamous trap that was blocked by Keith Wyness all those years ago after a night spent eating banana curry, and drinking copious amounts of real ale.

That should have been ongoing before he handed his request in, no ?
