John Stones transfer saga

Another Kenright failure. So long as we're playing in a dilapidated stadium then we'll never be able to hang onto our best young players. Don't kid yourselves - it'll happen with every single young player who we bring through, until our custodians can deliver a stadium that allows us to compete with the "big" clubs. He's had 20 years, and is as far from delivering on this as he has ever been.

Sorry I think you misunderstood me.

I was saying that if you feel that way then the logical action of the board will be not to sell however deep down I suspect you know they will. You are making excuses for them. Probably because you can see the logic in taking 35m for a 21 CB which is fine however don't confuse thinking that with justifying how they've manipulated the whole situation. As Linekar said it's not just this board. It's the whole of football that's rotting when it comes to this. It's purely done so the owners don't get the blame and the players do.

Again thanks for telling me what I think it comes in extremely handy so I can do more than two things at once.

we send a statement out saying we're not a selling club.

Has there been an offer accepted yet??? Let's face it, since he has put a transfer request in he is finished at Everton. If Chelsea decide to pull out or indeed go back to their original offer of twenty big ones unless there is a last minute bidding war we could get well and truly stitched up here!!!

We could just always reject it.

We've rejected players transfer requests before and they've stayed. As have other teams. Even Gerrard at LFC handed one in.

Stay. He's had his international ambitions fulfilled, is on a great wage already and will get even more wages for certain in the future.

As for the club showing ambition: that's played no part in his calculations. It's grasping at straws to offer a defence to someone who's just betrayed Everton.

Agree with this - we all know the faults of the board, but on this occasion I'm not putting the blame on them, no matter what Charlies Adam's unattributed quote might say. Think he's had his head turned, simple as that

Not really defending him mate. Just accepting the inevitable is hard sometimes. Trust me I feel as sick as you do about this but this will keep happening unless there are big changes at board level ...

He's 21 years of age. He's old enough to carry the can on this. He's not a child. Bollocks to him, I want this feller out of Everton right now. There's no way back for a snake like that, not at this club. We all know it too.
I think he's the clear winner of the 2015 Gosling award!

Theres a couple schools of thought on this-

1) we refuse to sell and try and get another year out of him in the hope he performs like Suarez did for them when he was forced to stay and hope in the mean time he opts to stay on.

2) We sell as quickly as possible to the highest bidder with a bit of time to reinvest with a few signings.

Im not sure which way it would go for Stones if he was forced to stay...

Can't see it happening m8. If he does not want to play for us he will be a liability on the field, the crowd will massacre him. If we play him we lose out if we let him rot in the reserves he loses value and is still on the wages bill.. Got to hope we get at least 35 mil....
