John Stones transfer saga

I agree, but he's been instructed as to the timing of when to hand it in. So he's a collaborator in my eyes, not the sole perpetrator.
I wouldn't argue. But he's been fully involved in this from day one. It sounds like he's put a transfer request in on the sly last week, then when it was knocked back he's gone public with it.

He's 21 years of age. He's old enough to carry the can on this. He's not a child. Bollocks to him, I want this feller out of Everton right now. There's no way back for a snake like that, not at this club. We all know it too.

I don't think the issue with Stones & Board ambition can be considered as mutually exclusive. If players genuinely harbour an ambition to play for the top 4 clubs in order to play CL then we have to have the backing & the drive to get this club turned into a top 4 club.
Otherwise, we become a feeder club & retirement village all in one. We become fans that cherish our 2014 Stones kits, and are just grateful that we had a chance to watch them, before they were big, in an Everton top.

Basically we become West Ham

Bottom line is, Stones has asked for a transfer. He no longer wants to play for Everton. Until further information is forthcoming then, sadly, he looks very much like the chief villain of the piece. He could have waited, even until the next window,

Chelsea can risk £35m on potential. Everton can't keep a player with potential when they are offered £35 million. If he turns out to be bang average we will have lost £27-28 Million. If he had been outstanding for 3 seasons we could pay him big money and keep him, but he wasn't even in our first team for most of last season.
If that's the case then why didn't we spend the money before now? Why has the Yarmolenko deal stalled - why didn't we offer Kiev what they wanted a month ago and if they didn't take it move on and buy Shaqiri when he came available?

It's not the fact that we will take the money for Stones. It's the fact our net spend is going to be around -30m during a time when the premiership is getting an extra 25m a year.

Yeah agreed, but he's been under instruction. I can't be mad at Stones as a primary target right now; everything comes back to the board for me. It is beyond cynical how they have acted with this.

But of course I'm being paranoid thinking that, Bill's a blue etc.

Agreed. It was a dog move.

If he has handed a transfer request in who's to say Chelsea are going to make a fresh bid and give us what we want, unless Chelsea have already made another bid that hasn't been picked up by the media, we've said no to that bid, so that forced Stones to hand in a transfer request.

It just wouldn't make sense doing it as a spur-of-the-moment decision, because he would be gambling that Chelsea come back in for him.

That won't happen. We will do it last minute, like we always do. It's the only way we can get top dollar from Chelsea, and avoid getting shafted by other clubs who know we've got money from the Stones deal. We will spend some money, either on deadline day or in January, although I really hope it's in August.

Stop it with the figures. No one knows anything for certain per year. Not how much we pay in transfers. Now how much we get in transfers. Not how much we earn. Not how much debt we have. Nothing.

The facts are we get almost 40K every game and have consistently finished in the top 7 and this year is a year where all other clubs are filthy rich due to the TV money.

Yet we have so far in this window spent like a championship team.

That's all you need to know.

Fixed that you mate - your impatience is dabbling with your reasoning...

Maybe if we showed some ambition and bought some more players he would of thought different ... He's leaving if true for 4 times his salary .... What would you do if you were him ?
Stay. He's had his international ambitions fulfilled, is on a great wage already and will get even more wages for certain in the future.

As for the club showing ambition: that's played no part in his calculations. It's grasping at straws to offer a defence to someone who's just betrayed Everton.

He's clearly been tapped up from a long way out mate. It is very unlikely he'd have handed the request in if he wasn't both aware of a Chelsea bid and aware Everton would entertain it.

Let's hope I'm wrong and we refuse it and the player is forced to stay and we send a statement out saying we're not a selling club.

How can you tell me what I expect and then contradict it in the next sentence for gods sake. I don't know what's going to happen, nobody does at this moment, spouting endless bs and throwing round accusations is a pointless exercise.

I've just given you the facts of what is publicly known, nothing more or less. Carry on with all your wild theories and scenarios as you like if it makes you happy, it's just doesn't make you right.
Sorry I think you misunderstood me.

I was saying that if you feel that way then the logical action of the board will be not to sell however deep down I suspect you know they will. You are making excuses for them. Probably because you can see the logic in taking 35m for a 21 CB which is fine however don't confuse thinking that with justifying how they've manipulated the whole situation. As Linekar said it's not just this board. It's the whole of football that's rotting when it comes to this. It's purely done so the owners don't get the blame and the players do.

Has there been an offer accepted yet??? Let's face it, since he has put a transfer request in he is finished at Everton. If Chelsea decide to pull out or indeed go back to their original offer of twenty big ones unless there is a last minute bidding war we could get well and truly stitched up here!!!
