John Stones transfer saga

I'd give him the armband on Saturday as a "this is what you mean to us John"

Get more nervous as this window draws to a close that he might actually leave. Rationally, I don't think he will because especially with the 'fan unrest' this board would never live this transfer down.

But they sold Rooney and they'll sell Barkley and anyone worth a bit of dough.

Just show a bit of bottle and DON'T sell Stones FFS.

This is an arguable comment but, I reckon Stones is one of the best defenders in the prem already and he is arguably irreplaceable for the system we play.

If he goes it's a sad sad day for Everton and no matter what the fee is, we won't get a player anywhere near his level.

Now come on Sir you know fine well Chelsea can and will be able to pay John Stones more money than we could offer, you will also have seen this scenario being played out countless times before with other players at other clubs. If this was simply about how much John Stones can earn we'd not stand a chance and he would have handed in a transfer request weeks ago, or his agent would have made his position known through the media and they'd have forced a move by now.

The fact that none of this has happened strongly indicates Stones isn't solely driven by how much he earns at the moment and offering an improved contract isn't likely to sway him to stay one way or the other Sir.

It's not about the club swaying a player it's about the club getting past the we will not sell to here's anew contract to reflect your new market value, loyalty and shutting down the whole thing.

Well how much then? I can't see how us offering him a deal will make him less likely to join Chelsea - if he wants more money, he'll go to Chelsea.

Chico seems to be under the impression if we waft a bunch of fifties under Stones nose like you do with a dog and treats you can make him forget about the cat on the back wall annoying him.

Not sure it works like that myself.

[Poor language removed] is this guy? The "yet to be completely convinced by him" I think is on Chelsea's end.

Offer him more than he's earning. Offer him a weekly wage competitive with our important players in the team.

If he wanted the most money he would go to Chelsea. But who doesn't want to earn more money and feel valued by their employer?

That's some paraphrasing there sir.

If you can't understand a basic business concept then what can I do? It's futile really.

Too many of you think with the heart rather than the head.

I'm sure it suits both sides not to do any new deal at the moment.

Stones and his agent will no doubt prefer talking about a wage increase after the window has closed and Everton have rejected a £40m+ bid rather than sell themselves short after a £26m bid was rejected.
