Surely between us we can conjure up some optimism, no matter how misplaced.

I spent all last season depressed with Everton, usually we at least con ourselves a bit we're in for a good season.

How about...

  • We signed Deulofeu. He's alright, isn't he?
  • Cleverley. Not fashionable, but I reckon he could pleasantly surprise.
  • Alcaraz and Distin have gone.
  • We'll benefit from continuity.
  • No Europa excuse/distraction.
  • We've not lost a big player.
  • We've still got time to buy. Martinez in May: “But now our business could happen in a much smoother manner and we will try to do it as quickly as we can with some of our targets. Others we will try to bring in late because of the type of player that we need to bring in".

Any miserable arses in the replies will be thread banned for this one, lets try an keep one thread at least that' allows us Blues who want to at least have a week of feeling like the end isn't near.

...Evertonians by nature are glass half empty fans. Always amazes me the difference in the lot across the park who are polar opposite in believing they will win every game. I'm not sure if that is them being positive or deluded.

I remind myself that we are a very decent side with a number of players who would be welcome at most Premiership clubs. Part of the frustration is how we play and the lack of creation and energy. It might be addressed this season and a few more signings will make us all a bit more optimistic.
