We have already bought Deulofeu. We are both assuming we are buying either Mertens or Shaqiri. We both assume Lennon will be swapped for Mirallas.

If we have Shaqiri instead of Mertens then Shaqiri can play in two positions allowing Ross to drop deeper.

Essentially it would allow us to rotate Cleverly, Shaqiri, Barkley, Lennon and Deulofeu. e.g. If Shaqiri moves into the middle, Ross drops deep, Cleverly drops to the bench. This would allow both Lennon and Deulofeu to play.

If we buy Mertens then it limits us a little because I don't think he plays much as a No 10 meaning that our team isn't as flexible and players end up sitting on the bench more.

But we don't need to buy Lennon. We could buy Mertens and Shaqiri instead.

As you say, Jags was the best of a very bad bunch last season.

But you admitted that Barry at 32 was good, so 32 is probably "your" cut off point? Mertens is 28 mate.

But Mertens, Shakira is 22m, that would leave us 8m for a CB and other bits and bobs, its doable, but I suspect Bobby wants a back up RB and im pretty sure we will need another Striker, although we could prolly loan 1.

Imagine signing Shaqiri, Mertens and Deulofeu for less than Firmino though, just imagine.

He's best as a No10 but has been used a lot at Inter and Bayern as a right winger. If we bought him then yes probably he would be replacing Mirallas.

Not convinced by Shaqiri. He strikes me as a bit part player at big clubs and he's inconsistent and not a team player. And his attitude is suspect.
