We were never in for tadic

This may not be the thread to post this in, but we definitely were - even to the point that we had a bid accepted by Twente, but Southampton upped their initial offer and we weren't prepared to go that far.

Anyway, that's by the by. Shaqiri links seem tenuous. Class player on his day but you never know what player's going to turn up. Astori - a few years ago he looked really solid, seems to have gone downhill a bit lately - if the link even has any substance.

Roberto Martinez has made an approach to the Cagliari star's agent after it became clear that he was not wanted at the relegated club while Roma, where he spent last season on loan, also do not want to take him. - See more at: https://www.clubcall.com/everton/everton-to-move-for-defender-1773707.html?#sthash.cy4t7VHZ.dpuf

Old link, it talks about uncertainty over Garbutt. He has since signed a new conny.

Seems as though he'd be a replacement for Mirallas. Not sure if he'd be an upgrade or not, not much in it for me.

Mirallas will score more goals, but Mertens would probably rack up a few more assists and is a bit more of a team player.

Mertens does alright on goals too, he had 10 goals 9 assists in 44 appearances last season compared to 11 goals 2 assists in 34 appearances for Kev.

Terreur and Claes are usually spot on with all the Belgians so happy to see we contacted about mertens at least.

Shaqiri is useful for when teams park the bus. His shot from outside is incredible. He can link up well with Rom and over 5 yards his acceleration with the ball is as good as it gets which allows him to beat men around the edge of the box.

He's perfect for us. He might not be quite as influential in certain other games but our main problem for two seasons has been team's parking the bus and then them countering. He will go a long way to counteracting that tactic.

Mertens would be a great Buy, can play on either wing or as a "number 10". If we can get Mertens in, McGeady Out and keep Mirallas, we could have a good set up in midfield to support Lukaku
