I'm not turning my nose up at them at all, infact i've actively said i want us to sign young players, specifically from the championship...

I scoffed at you comparing them in price, i don't care where a player comes from as long as they do their job.

But coleman is miles ahead of byram (who hasn't even had that great of a season) and if you rate byram at 10m then coleman is definitely worth 30m.

Coleman is five years older than Byram, but I'm not arguing that Byram is better than Coleman. I'm saying I would prefer to get Byram for between 6 and 10 million, and then have a further 10 million+ available to add to the budget for a midfielder that knows how to pass forward. Everton have been doing this for years now, and it has mostly served us well. You can say it has brought no success and you would be correct, but it has benefited us and we have experienced progress as a result.

How much will Byram be worth in five years time? Nobody knows, but I'm experiencing dizziness just thinking about it, if Seamus Coleman is currently valued at 30 million pound.

Coleman was playing for Sligo Rovers and probably earning minimum wage before he came to Everton. McCarthy was 'only' playing for Wigan, and the prospect of selling the worlds greatest CDM (Fellaini) for McCarthy was seen as an abhorrent one to most people on here. Fortunately, McCarthy is now the world's greatest CDM, and we have Besic in reserve who is also due to become the word's greatest CDM. So selling Fellaini didn't turn out too badly, and we actually ended up replacing him with a better player for less money, which is something I feel could be easily achieved once again with Coleman

I've got no problem with Everton taking advantage of who the buyer is, just like we did with Manchester United and Fellaini, who ended up paying almost 10 million pound more than Fellaini's buy out clause (the same buy out clause that absolutely NOBODY was interested in activating), but they will be overpaying, drastically, just like they did with Fellaini.

Anyone paying over 20 million for Coleman is being robbed. I'd be absolutely mortified if Everton went out and spent 20 million pound on a player like Seamus Coleman.

Decent post. Apart from Fellaini being one of best defensive midfielders in World. Sorry, don't agree !!

Think between 15 -20 with a fringe player would be about right.

No point arguing over different opinions on players worth. There is no right answer is there? Personally, I value Coleman closer to 30m than 20m because of the market and nearly everything goes our way to increase and inflate his price.

Comparing someone's price to someone else is completely stupid and invalid. You say Coleman isn't at the same level of Firmino and Lukaku, so is he the level of Lovren? (20m is what you claim Colemans price is) Of course not.

It's the Mirror that has said United are interested. This is the same Mirror (i know i link them here at times) that said Baines to United was done, and actually link Coleman/McCarthy/Lukaku/Stones to either United, City and Chelsea each window. If you're going to argue about Coleman, wait until there is serious news about him.

Rant over, it's summer and Deulofeu has signed.. go and have a pint or two

Who is this Adama Traore kid the Mirror/Echo and other sites are talking about for us? Is he the brother of Lacina that we had on loan for a game a couple of years ago?

...when you wiki his results you get 4 different footballers.

He's a Barca B player, he's a forward but not sure exactly where he plays. Hear he's highly rated by them though.

It's this Barca lid.
Another winger.
Probably jarg though.

you think we'd get £25m for a right back and decide to promote browning instead of buying anyone?

It completely depends on how ready Browning is and if the manager believes he is good enough. You often see examples of quality players being sold allowing an even more promising player to push through from the academy.
Of course Kenny will also be pushing for a game.

That all said I don't expect that Seamus will be sold, nor do I want him sold.

In the speculation or Coleman threads please lads, no off-topic stuff here, thanks

I think that Coleman will leave if Everton are prepared to sell or reach agreement with a buying club , but will do nothing to force a move away from the club.
I think he is perfectly happy at Everton and one poor season doesn't make us a bad team. Twelve months ago we finished higher in the table than they did and hopefully will be chasing a top four place again in season 2015/16. I am not even sure Coleman is a Van Gaal style player.

I was being sarcastic mate, I actually believe that Fellaini is an absolutely terrible CDM, he's a brilliant forward though.

need to emotify sarcasm for me mate. I have 3rd degree Asperger syndrome so I take things a bit to literally !

By the way firmino has done absolutely nothing in the premier league, for all we know that 28 million could be the biggest rip off of the season, coleman has played four years in the premier league as the top attacking right back, so wait and see how firmino even does before you brandy him around like he's some world class talent

Wasn't Shevchenko around £30mil? He was boss before Chelsea
