We were very heavily linked with Negredo shortly before he went to City. So much so that we already had a bunch of people on here saying what a bad signing he would be and how we was too old and wouldn't adjust to the prem... LOL.

Yeah I remember that. I'm sure I read that the reason we played silly buggers with Leroy Fer was that we'd got wind that Negredo was up for coming and had decided to re-appropriate the Fer funds (about £8m IIRC). That seems consistent with Feyenoord's chairman publicly calling us jokers and Norwich signing him soon after. He's played 59 Premier League games over two years since we said his knees were knackered.

And more in the late 70s - league cup in 77, possibly FA cup same year and maybe even a title in 78 or 79 when we had a very good side.

Might have meant Nev never signed though....

It's a shame Kenwrights burnt bridges at 2 clubs with a good rep of bringing young players through in Anderlecht with henen and feyernoord with Fer. Could come back to bite us in the backsides in any future deals.

I always thought Collymore should have chosen us, I think Royle would have got the very best out of him and he would have made a very big name for himself with us.
