True but if your attack is woeful you'll concede more too. There's a reason Barca have the fewest conceded in La Liga. They don't have the best defenders or the best defence, they just have the ball for 80% of the game and pummel the opposition. Additionally they defend as a team with good pressing.

We don't press. Our attack can't hold onto the ball. Our midfield passes more to the opposition than to our attack. All of that means we'll concede, regardless of our defence. We do definitely need another CB, and maybe a RB to press Seamus a bit.

Yeah I mentioned about the lack of pressing earlier in the thread. Spurs pressed and weren't even tired, we look knackered every match after 35 minutes.

Martinez bases so much of our style of play on possession and passing but we do absolutely nothing to try and win the ball back or force turnovers.

Barry/Alcaraz/Hibbert/Distin/Howard/Atsu and Kone need showing the door

Our squad is full of proper turd

Take away Kev/Lukaku and McCarthy and our side is dog shi7

id say dog sh8 myself like

shi7 would still get a B grade

to be fair to our players they look like they don't know what system the manager is trying to play. today looked like we were sitting deep trying to bring them on and then counter, (fine) but we all have to sit in and be in position. You can't have 2 or 3 players deciding to press and the rest of the team sitting on our 18yd line, you get cut to ribbons. Martinez ! are we gonna press or sit and counter make your mind up and drill your players in each style.

what was flukey about last season? i don't remember anything being lucky. record PL points total. a total which would have been good enough for champions league this season i think - that's bad luck if anything.

you seem to forget he is the one who unleashed barkley.

I think last year he stumbled upon Moyes good work and added to that with some astute signings. It's all came tumbling down this time though, do you trust him to get us back to where we were? Right now I don't.

Barkley was nowhere as good as many on here thought he was last year. Some spectacular goals and moments of brilliance but his actual overall contribution to team performances was nothing spectacular.

It was flukey because of what has been shown this season. He had just won the FA Cup, had a very good first-team including inheriting a solid defence with Baines, Coleman, Jagielka and Distin..couldn't improve much more on that....Barry was motivated to get in the England squad....not so solid in his second season. Nor the defence he inherited.

Didn't see anyone else wanting Lukaku for £28m.

He also fluked that Moyes did us a favour signing Fellaini even though he is and will always be average....we had freshness from Delefeou and a vibe from early-season results like Man Utd away, which were based on this season, flukes not to be repeated next.

Whenever we draw or lose at home, it's a miracle and unlucky according to RM. I would say most of our positive results this season have been lucky.

not sure i agree with any of those points tbh

Random thoughts:

Barkley looking like a Rodwell clone. Awful season.
Coleman refusing to run at a stand-in full back.
Lukaku looking uninterested but given scraps to feed on.
Miralles greedy with no link-up play with Lukaku.
Ossie was ok but he should no longer be a starter.

EFC well-outplayed; not enough talent in midfield: not enough talent upfront: too narrow. Tactically naive against a 5 man footballing midfield. Conceded possession for minutes on end.
