Playing for pride has to be one of the most overused cliches in professional sports. I can't see them bursting with it for a 10th-place finish. Simply, the players had nothing to play for and are playing accordingly.

WHAT? And what about those who paid their hard-earned? Don't THEY count - or does the lap of appreciation make up for the abject performances?

FAFS.

What disappointed me was after 15 minutes it was obvious we needed to press higher up and nothing changed for the whole first half while Spurs played us apart

I don't see why Mirallas is ever played on the right-wing. His strength is cutting in from the left, dribbling, and shooting or creating from that side. Not crossing. McGeady can play on the right no problem but Mirallas may as well be sold for £12m or so if he's gonna be used on the right. I want ch ch changes.

Massive applause for Martinez there as Rossy welcomed him back onto the pitch via the PA system

Of course the fans count and we deserved a lot better. I'm just saying that with really nothing to play for, the players mailed it in the last few games and they should be ashamed of themselves. It wasn't unexpected, however, once relegation was avoided.

Both Merseyside managers will be very fortunate to see in next season. I think the Everton one will though, for better or worse.

Royle/Ferguson whoever! They are already at the club so it's no 'Dalgleish' thing and I bet Royle would do better than Martinez would next season. First season a fluke, persistence with Barry/McCarthy obsession (there's an obsession for you) even in the last game, a joke, Barkley needs to be inspired, unleashed and free, Besic is motivated, but held back. Hardly see us finishing top 8 next season considering all this.

You honestly think those lads give a toss about the paying fans

Get a grip

No - I KNOW they DON'T. As I said earlier - bar osman - the older players looked like they were on a beach somewhere already. Not good enough.

And most certainly not good enough to be called 'playing accordingly' no matter what the position.
