It depends.

Calm, normal and rational people who protest like civil and decent adults = no.

Middle class lefties who've suddenly decided that they don't like democracy because it didn't give them the result they liked = Yes. Every time, yes.

And how do you distinguish between the two?

There's a good portion of that crowd who are anarchists and idiots, yes, but there's going to be people there genuinely scared out there.

Instead of laughing at them, it'd be nice if the PM came out and tried to understand them for the first time in his life. There's a lot of frightened people out there because they've been told £12bn of cuts are coming but not had the courtesy of being told how, when and where.

This is a very, very interesting post.

I can't say how much I'd need to be earning if I had a family with three children, because I don't have three children. I can say that as a very recently-married man my wife and I have talked about having children in the future, and we've agreed that we need to save up a bit more first. We live in the southeast and gross about £50k pa between us. Obviously the drop in income that comes when the wife goes on maternity leave is a major concern.

So it should be , Maternity pay is in the firing line.

So as not to play politics with every convo. I said it to Bruce and I'll say it again. If you spend too much time saving to have kids, you will never have kids. It doesn't matter how much money you have you will never have enough. Don't let the opportunity pass you by.

Having kids can be one of the greatest incentives to improve one's financial status there is. (Of course, assuming you're in a position to do so)

At best your income grows, at worst you have the most wonderful gift there is in the world - it's really a win/win situation.

Didn't see any protests when Blair won a large majority with 35.2% of the vote.

Funny that the left only care about voting reform when they don't win.

Oh, and also, interestingly enough, PR would have resulted in a Tory/UKIP coalition. Lovely!
given the impending boarder changes, the tories care about it when they do win, taking an opportunity to alter the voting landscape in their favour

I come from a VERY affluent town. I see a lot of relative poverty and the lifeblood of the community being sucked away as locals can no longer afford to live and work in the area.
I hate to break it to you but I lived in an area of London and had friends who where locals and the same could be said for them however

1. No one has any right to live in an area
2. There will be new "locals"
3. How is this the Tory's fault?

I don't have time to go into all this again, having gone into it massively in the old thread. I have been involved in lots of studies on this issue and in particular the long-term social and economic consequense of the deterioration of communities as a result of unaffordable housing. Safe to say I know my onions.
To answer point 3, The touchpaper was the sell off of council houses.

lolwot?

Genuinely, do you think our stance of hatred of the Tories compared to yours depends on what you see where you live? I live in a very deprived area and can see it's affects first hand.
Just out of curiosity? Does your area keep voting in Labour both locally and nationally?

On the quality of their clothes, usually. What kind of civilised person wears all black on a Saturday? Madness!

Has a PM ever addressed a 'protest'? I've no doubt there are many worried people. There would have been a lot of worried people if Labour had got in too. Nothing changes.

A truer word has yet to spoken in this thread.
