Looks as fit as he has been for 3 years.

People forget what a good player he was when he first signed for us. We rarely lost a game with him playing and was as influential for us (or more so) than Fellaini.

Towards the end under Moyes he was playing through injury and that showed. I also think the combination of him, Osman and Fellaini trotted out every week didn't really do them any favours (particularly with Fellaini playing further forward). We were pedestrian.

Alongside Besic/McCarthy type players to cover more ground and giving Osman more of a free role gets the best out of all of them.

We have a lot of talented central midfield players. Part of the problem for Gibson was he played through injury and wasn't properly managed under Moyes. We now have the luxury to rest and rotate and I hope the manager does this. The same goes for Osman really.

Overall a very welcome bonus and he has the potential to be a leader of the pitch for us. A good alternative to Barry in games where we are not as under the cosh. Well done Gibson for getting yourself back fit.

He can run a game on his own when he's at the top of his game. If he wants to speed a game up he will, if he wants to slow it down he will. Personally think Gibson and McCarthy should be our '2' in midfield until the end of the Season.

I think the issue with this is that Gibson needs to be handled with care and rested in some games.

I also think we now have the luxury of a variety of talented midfield players and we can rest and rotate depending on the game. (I wouldn't start him against Kiev on Thursday).

But your premise is right, in home games McCarthy and Gibson is a good combination.

Love me a bit of Gibbo. It's a pity that Barry is going to snail crawl back into the team against Southampton.
Best part of the game for me apart from the goals, proper 50/50 get in gibbo and lead from the front. Back to Barry's little snide yellow card challenges after the international break.

Was quality today. Won tackles n headers n use of the ball was good to. 2 minds whether u want him to play for ireland next week or have a rest!!!
