Wonder if the people of the 80s who liked music from, say, the 60's, of the same opinion?

Also no, not all music is crap today. Chart music is absolute nonsense, hence why I said "charts are crap".

Also my view on NME still stands.

I like some of the bands of today, and I'm not referring to chart music, the problem for me though everything is just much of the same, there is just nothing out there that stands out, also there are just no personalities out there, they're all boring as crap.

Or you may just not be listening to the right stuff

my favourite era for music was the post punk.new wave and ska period of this time . I've virtually given up on music now.NME journalists get right on my tits and always have done

What do you listen to, chum?

I'm fairly sure a band like Mastodon is very different both music and personality-wise from just about 90% of the bands out there, tbh.

And a band like Airbourne is basically if AC/DC travelled from the 80's to now and got a few plastic surgeries, like.

To me one of the biggest problems now with the music scene is that unknown bands in the old days did it the hard way - tranny van, gigging wherever they could get a gig and getting their name out that way. Nowadays it's all YouTube and the cult of celebrity instant fame bollocks. The record companies don't invest in sending people out to dives to watch bands anymore as its all done on social media etc.

Well I sort of agree with that. There's plenty of bands that do it the hard way, but they don't get any support from anything and anyone and just die out...

Agreed mate, the money from the record companies doesn't go on the road anymore . The old fashioned A and R is thing of the past.
It's not, but the bands that go the hard way rarely make it out with any success, which makes me sad.

It's why I'm proud of Trivium, Airbourne and a few more - they did their thing and are now famous and everything. It did take too long with the aussies, but at least they got it. For every one of them there's a Crystal Pistol or 5.
