Your comment (and that of Tubey) seem to assume that I'm expecting the child from Kirkby to achieve the same as the one from Eton. I don't, any more than I expect me to be as good a cyclist as Bradley Wiggins.

One final thing: This a completely fatuous statement. The fact that you have not picked up any Olympic gold medals or won the Tour has little to do with unrealised potential and much to do with insufficient talent on your part. There are, however, many children from Kirkby and Speke who are highly intelligent and yet won't get into Oxbridge whilst there will be slightly less intelligent children from Eton and Harrow who do (that can't be right, surely).

The two scenariosrepresent lack of attainment for two totally different reasons and it's disappointing that you've tried to make them seem the same.

One of the major faults of the curent system is that it creates a situaution with a lamentable amount of unrealised potential. God alone knows the true cost to the country on that count.

What an offensive thing to say. I'm utterly appalled.

Ed balls saying Labour wouldn't change anything in Osbournes budget
Course they wont.

Because they have spent 4 years blaming everything including labour on why they have to kep making cuts to things and now its election year the country is so much better off they dont need to make any significant change (until next year).

I agree with this, but we probably disagree on how to fix it. Coming from a time when kids from Kirkby and Speke would regularly get the chance via the 11+ to go to one of Liverpool's excellent grammar schools, I find it upsetting that they no longer have the opportunity to make it into Oxbridge, when previously a great many did indeed achieve it.....

This is the same con trick they played back in 97..... Trust us, we will behave responsibly just like the conservatives.....then screw it up again as every other Labour government has done.....

It's said that you cannot fool all of the people all of the time, yet Labour supporters always stick to the same bunch....just for once forget the political dogma, try to imagine that the Tories don't want to eat your children and look at how they have transformed a country from an economic shambles to one of the strongest in just a few years....

haha tory opinion in a nutshell.

Or perhaps labour didnt destroy the economy and you only believe they did because David Cameron told you so? The conservatives spent years just critisisng labour rather than coming up with actual ideas and then oddly enough they gain power and out of the blue, they justify every negative financial move on the basis of labour's mistakes. It is a con, to make people believe what they (M.Ps) want you to believe.

So who did destroy the economy. Who raised the UK borrowing. Who ruined the pension schemes. Who oversaw the banking crisis. Who allowed unprecedented and chaotic immigration.......oh I forgot, it was the USA........
