I think Clarkson has had enough opportunities to sort his ignorant and sometimes distasteful views out before it got to this stage. For him to also lay hands on a producer left the BBC with no choice IMO. It has nothing to do with the BBC being up their own backsides.

The BBC will be the ones losing out as Top Gear is one of their biggest cash cows.
