"The fans wanted him sacked"

I'm enjoying the World cup of cricket...rarely stray on to the 'Martinez in/out' to-ing and fro-ing threads of late. It's largely (i.e. ex relegation) all moot anyway. And whilst ALL of us agree that this has been a PL season of superlative badness, I think apoplectic gun powder should be kept dry til we see the performances of the first third of next season.
In the meantime, GO THE BLACK CAPS!!

...and GO EVERTON!! in the EL

You know what i am the general voice of the typical fan now, not happy with things and fearing the end result. but in light of this thread i will tell you what i (or we) want.

I want Martinez to turn into a great manager. I want us to play good football, and beat teams as martinez sees us doing. I want all the youth to be developed and brought into the team so we can take pride in them making the first team and then displacing whoever is in their position. I want martinez to be here for as many years as he can grow and i want him to bring the calibre of talent as he has done already to the club.

Truth is, no matter how much i (we) can be labelled a doom merchant, personally i want all this to turn around under the man we have! I think the turning points in our season are 2 days away and then hopefully the enxt round. We need that one win, most probably in the europa where the team and manager actually realise how good we really are and snap into shape.

but it heavily depends on the man in question so time will tell.
Good post, but I fear a portion of the fanbase want Martinez sacked no matter what, just so they can say "told you". In their small world it's more important to be right (in the anonymous world of t'Internet) than for Everton to go on to be successful under Martinez. I was on ToffeeWeb's live forum for the Stoke debacle, and some idiot was absolutely made up we'd lost as "Martinez would be gone in the morning". He wasn't, and we were still struggling in the league.

I really struggle with the mentality of some people in public forums. They must be real idiots to work with / be around.

I've said it a few times before but by that same token I'm not exactly dreading relegation as it would hopefully kickstart the legions of bells following Everton to crawl back under their rock or swerve us for a more successful team.

Gimme my Everton back darn it.

It's a different era. Martinez is no Kendal. Nor Moyes during his second season. Just because some managers come good doesn't mean all do and there are many examples of managers who don't.

Do you know, I really don't want martinez gone because of a bad league campaign. Many other manager I'd give them the benifit of the doubt to have a rethink over the summer, adjust and go again.

With martinez tho you just know nothing will change. He truly doesn't believe he's done anything wrong and he WONT adjust his tactics.

I really don't want to go forward with this style of football. It's boring, out dated and most importantly ineffective. That's not gonna change anytime soon!

I can't imagine any fan wanting everton to lose to say I told you so.
A lot of fans are very worried which way we are heading under Martinez with how he has managed this season.
Some fans think he deserves a 3rd season and some don't.
I want everton to win every single game because they are in my blood and I would imagine every poster on here would want the same.
If Martinez turns things round great it means we are on our way again but I don't think he can and I think he has lost the players.
His inability to change worries me and his vision is blurred in my eyes.
I want a great future for my club and I don't think he is the man to deliver it

We're not the first team to struggle with the adaptation of European football and we won't be the last.

People's concerns are valid but getting rid would be a massive overreaction.

Beat these and in two seasons we've gone further than ever in Europe and finished with our highest points.

That's an excellent post.

But done with the best squad of players Wev had since the 80's.

The squad he was left with, with barkley, stones, Barry, Lukaku and McCarthy added to it should always of been doing well. And not just for one season!

Mate, in all truth and as anti as I am currently, if we were to fast-forward a year and we're back on track I'd happily go 'Blimey, wasn't that weird last year, didn't we jump the gun...what a gang of teats we were etc'. I've also heard someone, a season ticket holder for 30 odd years as it happens, suggest that he'd happily take a NU & QPR defeat if it got shut. Frankly, I think that's disgusting...

I just think he's ever so off his box at the minute.

Let's not just give half the analogy with Moyes....after all, the Ginger One took us to 17th in his second season. So, suggesting we've regressed 15 years is simply not the case. If the football is the worst you've seen in 30 years you've been facing away from the pitch for large chunks of it....some of the away days (and home games) under Moyes were dreadful, likewise Walter Smith. If we're comparing the two managers let's at least be fair about it. Comparing their 1st two seasons is a fair barometer as RM has only done two seasons, and based on that comparison why wouldn't RM be given at least another season?

Because he has us performing at our worst level in over 80 years despite having one of our strongest squads in 30 years. You are kidding yourself that the dross on show this season is any better than the dross from the 90s. It's just as bad if not worse, and the form book reflects that.

Comparing Moyes finish in 2004 to now is also ridiculous. We were safe by April with a squad full of relegation fodder, we were actually winning games until we became safe and took our foot of the pedal, whereas we can't by a league win for love nor money at the moment, despite the vastly superior quality of
our squad.

'Paul, 8, Had Martinez picked the RS, they would not be in the same mess or at least not for long. There would be riots and demonstrations from the kopites. Directors would be physically assaulted, CDs created, pipes and drums with banners leading massed marches in the city centre, thousands of protest T shirts would be worn and the entire Redshite media industry would be baying for blood.

Meanwhile, at dear old Goodison, we indulge in a few boos as BK and RM treat us like idiots. It's all a bit apathetic really.'

The above was pinched from another thread but says it all really. It's great saying we are not kopites and don't do banners or chants or rallies, but currently, and for most of the season we also don't do good football, goals and wins!!!!

Lets just sack the [Poor language removed] or show the club our real disappointment at how things are going rather than rip into each other, it has been said time and time again - players and managers will come and go but supporters will always be here!!!!!:celebrate:

To be honest, my Evertonian mates take the p*ss out of Blues whinging in hysterics on forums. Some wouldn't even be seen dead on one..."grown fellas whove never met each other.... page after page of narks typing throwing their weight around...they wouldn't dare go the alehouse and try that" that sort of thing. Moreover, they laugh at the way for example one minute ones are asking for RM's bollocks on a flagpole...hes a clown..then the next minute the same ones are saying "but if we turn it round I (haha) might give him another season to see what happens". I just laugh... as I can - because I don't carry on like that. You cant really reason against their rationale in a way... because theyre right about some who post I guess. A lot of non forum Blues are obviously worried about the state were in but moreover blame the lazy arse /out of form millionaires out on the pitch as much as Martinez....and Ive cleaned that up swearing wise. I still think the Blues on here generally contribute good rational discussion to the situation. The next few days and the two matches will be a barometer to how this season will pan out....Im getting my pacemaker annual download in two weeks, Im expecting them to ask what the hell was happening January - March ?

Don't really think I am but I accept your point, despite it being wrong.

I'm actually basing it on the fact you reference last year muchly which - accepted - was ace, but it's all about the now Davey, for me, and I'm guessing for others too because the distance between then and today seems immeasurable somehow at the moment, such has been the fall.

So, if it's not about the now, it's about the 'way back when' & yada-yada-yada. And that's a trait belonging to next door, namely it doesn't matter because, frankly, it's gone...

Oh, and before you nip in and again - and agreed BTW - say we only need minimal points to stay safe etc. Well, it's not just about the points is it, it's the whole season, it's everything currently PL wise and I can't fathom why...

And as an aside, my little boy was watching this before, without prompt, so I lay down, watched it with him....rather wish I hadn't TBH.

But I genuinely hope the players do sometime soon, just as a reminder...
