IMAGINE THIS....think this is #script 8 (emergency)

Regarding saying the same things, stuck on repeat reminded me of something my missus said the year after Benitez left Liverpool. She goes to the monthly Liverpool supporters club meeting held at Anfield every month, and there usually a special guest such as a current player, reserve player, coach or ex player. About a year after he left Benitez was special guest and after his talk someone asked him why did he repeat the same crap win/lose or draw to the media. He mentioned it's just a built in mechanism, he was aware that the media/fans were probably into him repeating the same stuff but he said after a game it's just too complicated to explain to everyone tactics/what did/didn't work etc so it was easier to be robotic. He then proceeded to pick a game from random and spent 20-30 minutes explaining why he did this that and the other. She said his persona was completely different and his explanations of tactics were far beyond anything a fan would be able to grasp without spending 3 hours looking at it over and over again. She's a Kopite but she knows her football so I know it was something that she walked away from and gave her food for thought

Apologies for the ramble, I just think probably Martinez does something similar though it grates with me when we are on this run of poor form. But it's similar as in we can almost gaurentee what he's going to say pre match ( opponents are brilliant, they deserve to be higher in the league and deserve more points and we need to be at our best ) and post match ( fine margins, didn't get what we deserved, looking forward to the next match )

If the fraud stays how will he change it next season because he has not got a clue what he is doing.
He inherited a strong squad with passion and is ruining them week by week.
Barkley has gone from a 50 million pound investment to a 10 million pound rodwell.

Howard is spot on.

What's needed now isn't some jarg philosophy or football for the purist, it's points on the board, pure and simple. We need to be tight, hard to beat and keeping it simple. The players confidence is low, so simplify the football ffs, it's hardly rocket science.

Sherwood showed how it's done on Tuesday, he admitted they'd look to get the ball forward early given their plight - and it worked. A punt from the keeper, flick on from Benteke and a finish from Agbonlahor. Direct football.

The problem with some of these "heres whats wrong, heres how to fix it" shouts is that they are normally very simplified.

Are you saying you have missed the long direct balls we have regularly played over the last few weeks?

We do this.

What we don´t do, is do it well. same way we dont do the short pass and move tactics well.

So for me, again, this is not a mainly tactical thing....this is a group of players playing with low confidence, crap form and fear.

We've ALWAYS tried to get on the ball and control it never treat it as a hot potato - as Moyes and his nineteenth century methods dictated.
Under martinez we like to get on the ball and send it back or to the side then slowly look at it then to the side then back,we then get sleepy and make a mistake then tim dives over it

No mate, what we need is to play football like Barcelona, and to walk the ball into the net at every opportunity. You see, if you manipulate possession, you will never have to defend. EVER. So 100% possession every single game is what we should strive for. And none of this hoofball or scoring from set pieces either, as that isn't a very satisfying goal. Even though it counts exactly the same and all that

He was not ready when moyes was here.
Last season was his time to come through but he is a shadow of himself and scared shitless now.
Thats just one example of players going backwards

oh ok, what about when martinez managed him in his 1st season and he perfromed really well and got into the england squad?

@bicycleheader - no we haven't at all. What we've been doing is fart arsing around on the halfway line, passing it sideways and backwards, and then when put under pressure or no-ones showing for the ball, punting it into the channels. We've not been turning sides at all, as they're set by the time we look to play long. So your patroning post was facutally incorrect

How do you know he was ready last season? He had a few good games for us but in current form I wouldnn't say he's a Premier league player

you are obviously distraught with all this worry of relegation if you are thinking there is truth in the Daily Mail
I am distraught my team are so bad mate.
I admit the mail is a comic but because he is so nice he has got away with flak this season.
I am just relieved people are now seeing through the brown shoes

yep, we do that but we are also using direct balls. Not all the time, but regularly enough.

I wasn´t being patronising, don´t be so touchy.
