No you're right, I've changed my mind. Let's see how the season pans out. We ain't getting relegated anyway.

I'm not gonna take you up on the bet mate, partly because I can't afford a Mars bar, and partly because I think you might be right. I think I'm just willing to give him the time to at least try. Obviously in 2 games time if we've lost to Newcastle and QPR I might not be quite so understanding.

The odds are still heavily on us getting home by a few points and then Martinez agreeing to some change in his contract to allow the club (if we dont start next season well) to terminate his contract...if Martinez is happy to do that, that is.

I doubt anyone voluntarily allows their contracts to be renegotiated Dave!

The review has to look at every aspect of our performance through the season including pre-season preparation, injury prevention & recovery processes, individual match preparations, tactics and variations for different opponents, management and training team performance, leadership on and off the pitch, individual player performances, technically, tactically and mentally, squad rotation, squad strengths and weaknesses plus of course squad changes including removals and additions.
 
I dread taking my two lads the Newcastle game as I can see it getting ugly as there will be even more pressure on players than there was last night.

I still turn up to every game i can possibly get too, season ticket holder blah blah, i never shout abuse at the team because it helps nobody (especially my own health) but i have had this discussion with you for months now and we still havent sorted the situation out. You sound like Bobby undercover, small margins, bit of luck, change in form etc. That only comes from making changes from the start, formations, tactics and substitutions. The reason Ferguson and Mourinho are so good is that they make changes and adapt (money quickens the procedure too). Can you imagine bobby going 4-4-2 to win a game or play two wingers on a wide pitch to stretch the opposition and give the defence a break e.g. Arsenal Away ?

He needs to start showing visible signs of change, that way we can take some encouragement from our performances, win lose or draw.
 
Right now the atititude of 3 teams worse off than us does not hold ground when four of our remaining fixtures are below us in the league! Couple that with fellow relegation teams;

Sunderland- Beat us already
Hull- Beat us and a draw
QPR- beat with 3 yes 3 deflected goals
Villa- One of our only proper wins this season, against a team who cannot score
Burnley- Was a nervy win and now they have to save their skin
Lesicter- Couldnt beat them TWICE!


My point is we are a team that cannot win a game and are putting in poor performances every week. People defend the manager and fair enough but it isnt like a poor few games we are having, at this point in time we are getting beat before we set on the pitch because of the many reasons there is to it.

Now 3 teams are currently worse than us so fans are fine with that. Except If villa beat us they go level on points with us, QPR beat us and win their game in hand they go level with us. Sunderland beat us and they will be widening gaps there. Burnley beat us and the bottom 3 shift up 3 points. As unrealistic this may seem see the list above. We are LOSING to everyone and we arent getting a result no matter if its home or away, top or bottom of the league. Never mind the worst form team in the league, i dont understand how people still hang their hope on us being safe, we are a few weeks away from being too late to sack martinez yet in trouble with him.

Oh and newcastle, nothing to play for? How about a new manager who wants the job and the players back to get him that job.
 

Another atrocious performance but an all too predictable one for this team this season.
Hull away was the end of the line for me, the warning signs were there against Southampton away when the manager inexplicably made no substitutions.

I admire those who wanted him to stay as I'm a big believer in loyalty, but even his most ardent fan must see that we are at a critical point and that we must take drastic measures to ensure survival.

A honeymoon period of a new manager may be enough to maintain our status

There will be lots of swearing and anger. Not good to kids. I watch my local team and those people just bad mouthing throughout the game. If I have kids, I will think twice before taking them there in partincular there will be a massive meltdown if we lose to Newcastle. The Europa tie at home is a safer bet.
