Tim Howard

Martyn had one good season...bookended by two not so good ones.

In part due to poor defenders in front of him.

Martyn was our player of the year in 03/04, and the next season we finished 4th. 05/06 he was mostly injured and was forced to retire midway through that season. I can't even believe we're having this debate. Tim Howard wears Nigel Martyn pyjamas, end of

IMHO, the Tim Howard selection could come back on Bobby big time in terms of he has dealt with the GK situation of late.

Joel is a good pro and is keeping his mouth shut but you have to wonder how much damage that has done when Tim is sitting in the bottom 5 of the GK table.

Tim Howard has been amazing in the past and I'm sure he has the record for most clean sheets in a season for Everton. However you can't get past the fact that Tim Howard is the main reason we 12 and not 5-6-7, he has cost us at least 12 points this season. Robles isnt the best but in 7 games he got 3 back to back clean sheets were Howard has had no back to back clean sheets. I no we finished 5th last season with him but how dodgy did we look on corners and how many did we concide from corners which probably cost us 4th

Martinez dropped a real clanger bringing Howard in. He probably planned to bring Robles in for Thursdays game but now has a dilemma. If he brings Robles in who then keeps a clean sheet (which is likely), he puts more pressure on himself by bringing Howard back for Arsenal.

Is there anyone on this side of the Atlantic (European side) that actually still believes in him?
What happened against Leicester wasn't a surprise. We are all expecting it.
Don't forget his idiotic penalty and sending off against Sunderland last year that ended our great run.

This season Howard has been a walking disaster and an accident waiting to happen. When Joel finally got his chance for the 1st few games he looked very nervous but he finally started to show his true colours and i loved the way he controlled his area and with him being a big guy he used that to his advantage and his kicking is great he actually finds a blue shirt not the lower bullens or the main stand, ok he still needs time but the signs are there at his being a top keeper. To drop him for Howard was an idiotic piece of management which has truly backfired and lets hope he gets brought in soon unless thanks to our all American male keeper we could find ourselves deep in the [Poor language removed] at the wrong end of the league.

The way that Martinez has handled the entire Robles-Howard conundrum belies his most dangerous flaws. Not only is it a tip of the hat to his stubborn attitude when it comes to team selection (and a symptom of faith in 'the system' above all else) but also- and perhaps this is more alarming- is indicative of some pretty gash man-management, particularly of the youth. Sends out a piss-poor message to a lot of the younger players (and, in turn, the seniors) that certain places in the team are drawn in cement. Fairplay if he wants to uphold the spine of the team that did so well for us last year but, as many have pointed out, Howard has looked dodgy for quite a while now. However i'd still be reluctant to chuck Joel back in- purely because dropping him straight away for Howard would probably have shook his confidence a bit and he'll need a lickle while to get over it.

After the weekend I think it's time Howard was dropped. Joel had been doing well when he was bombed out cos Howard got fit again.

Joel has earned his place, for me.

The leader of the free world phoned Timmy and called him 'the US secretary of defence'. Yes, President Obama called him that. For me, that means Timmy starts every game.
