Tim Howard

I'm not convinced he's that much worse than Robles. Robles has had some awful matches in his time at the club

Howard was very good for long periods of the match last night.

If we sold or got rid of all the players who made individual errors this season, we'd have no players left
All routine stops though, if he never saved them you'd be disapointed

Never mind the distance it went straight William who excepted the gift and put it inside his near post - my brother even claims TH should have caught it?
I thought that was harsh, but TH now has a habit of making a crucial costly mistake the stats bear that out as -Robles are better per game!

Of course the distance matters, if he'd have fluffed it and not cleared his area it would be a fair point. But he's got it a fair distance away, then the defender has closed the attacker down and got a deflection on the shot which not only wrong foots another covering defender it also makes Howard unsighted as the ball deviates and sneaks in by the post. He's done nothing wrong there and it's just bad fortune.

As for catching is he joking? No goalkeeper would have tried to catch that under pressure leaning through attacking and defending players in his path.

Howards fair game for critism as any of our players are but show some objectivity otherwise when you may have a valid point people just dismiss it as agenda driven.

Doogie, it was poor judgement to got out when there were two Everton players out there covering.

Doogie look again at the vid, Howard went out and gave a poor punch but in my book he should have stayed back and left it to the Everton players out there. But really it is all history now and not worth worriting over it.

And if he didn't try and punch it and stayed on his line I'm sure you'd be on here saying he should have..

Coincidence?

I think Robles should have been playing instead of Tim Howard , but not because I think TH is a bad keeper but because Robles did well while in the team and seemed to improving with each game. I think the man in possession should keep the jersey and let the other fight for his place and try to win it back...I think that is healthier competition.

The whole team had a disappointing start to the season and it must be harder for a keeper playing behind a defence and midfield that were not doing well and were low on confidence. I don't hold any more blame for Howard than any other player.

I don't agree with any player going back into the side unless he is substantially better than what is there. McCarthy for instance was a huge loss when he got injured and a huge bonus when he got back, the same with Stones. Howard over Robles..not so sure.

He gave it a solid punch it to the 23....What the heck do you expect him to do? If he stayed back you'd be ragging him for staying on his line. Catching it through traffic is super risky and was not an option there.

No agenda TH has had a bad season - since his heroism in one World Cup game his reputation, and Alan Shearer pointing out he goes down to the ground early mainly on his backside - he has let goals in - my biggest example was the error he made at old Trafford in UNT 2nd winning goal - TH instead of clearing the ball into row Z kicked it down the line giving the ball away in a bad area 60 seconds later he was picking the ball out of his net!
A goalkeeper of his expeerience should do better!

He has had a crap season, but that clearance went to almost midfield, and no one stepped to the ball after that. Should he have booted it 20 rows deep, yes, but that goal was preventable by several players.

He had a horrible run this year and shouldn't have been sent in straight away. Robles deserved to stay in, but he did really nothing wrong yesterday and still gets crap for it. People have an agenda. Not saying you do, but several do.

RM has made things worse by dropping an inform Keeper that's why! It may be an agenda for some fans - I just go by recent performances!
