On top of that, we never needed a rebuild, we needed to build on the foundation created by David Moyes. Also, a rebuilding job shouldn't be done by stacking our squad by players over 30.

Not saying Martinez should go, but I think it's only natural questions will be asked during the season we're having.

Comments like this are infuriating. I'm not saying we need a complete rebuild, but look at our squad: Kone, Hibbert, Osman, Pienaar, Distin, Howard, Alcaraz, Jags, Barry and to a lesser extent Baines are all past their primes and unfortunately, several of them dropped off at the same time. The same exact crap happened to ManU last year, they just dropped from 1st to 7th instead of 5th to 12th. Do we need to gut the team? Hardly. But it's unreasonable to pretend that we have all of the pieces in place and bash Martinez for not finding the magical formula or spending £25 million that we don't have on a new keeper, CB, and winger this past summer, especially when it looked like we were set at those positions.

One win in 13 is shameful for this squad.
The worry is we are now in a relegation fight and don't have a win in us.
Nothing really changes our football is slow with no cutting edge and we still can't take a corner.
The manager does not seem able to fix the problems and why he took besic off last night when he was the only player actually shooting at the goal baffles me,it looked like the easy option again.

Kev aside we have zero flair or creativity in midfield, That's why we struggle in games like last night, We have nobody who can split a defence

Final thought before I go to bed: I just really don't know what people in this thread want if we get rid of Martinez. Not only would we have to buy him out of his contract (more money going to waste), but that new manager would still be dealing with a club where our back-up center-backs have an average age of 35, we have no consistent wingers, our keeper is inconsistent as hell, one of our three CDMs has lost too much pace, our striker gets completely marked out of games by Joleon Lescott, our bright young start looks indecisive at best and completely lost at worst, and we have limited funds to solve these problems.

And when you call for new tactics, what do they want? To try to play kick and run against a team that's packing 9-10 men around the box? To go counter-attacking against WBA at home? To pull our pacy wing backs out of defense and replace them with lightning quick Gareth Barry, despite our proclivity to get beat on the counter as is?

You can scream, "Play it faster!" all you want, but I don't think the players are purposely trying to play slowly – it comes down to a) ability and b) good decisionmaking, which some of our players (notably Barkley) seem to lack these days. And it's not particularly easy to find two skillful, fast, young, cheap wingers and a cheap, fast, ball-handling CB, especially in January.

The problem is that he signed Barry, Kone and Alcaraz. Handing out new contracts to Hibbert, Osman, Distin and Howard. He caused this so-called ageing squad problem for himself. And how are we supposed to rebuild? Martinez has money to spend and he inherited a top 6 squad.

1 win in 13 league games said it all. And why are we furious? Because nothing has changed and we see this on the pitch yesterday. We are no longer the team in the dark years of late 90s, early 00s. Expectation has raised. With this squad, we have to finish at 7th place (Europa) the very least. When was the last time we were doing so badly?11th in 2006?

What's so infuriating about it? Koné, Alcaraz, Barry and Eto'o were all signed by Martinez. He also handed out new contracts to Osman, Distin and Howard. Also, I'm not trying to bash Martinez, but certainly a part of the blame lies with the manager? That of course is my opinion, whether or not you agree with it is up to you. Infuriating comment though, I think not.

Nope, 03/04, 05/06/, 09,10 were all worse.

Pro rata though. Those squads where not as good. Barkley, Stones, Coleman, McCarthy would all be courted by the Sky teams with Mirallas and Lukaku getting glances too. So why can we not beat Palace, Hull, Stoke, Newcastle etc. This season has been a massive let down after promising so much. in 05/06 by now we where beating Arsenal and moving towards 30 points. I see no wins on the horizon sadly.

He signed Barry, Kone, and Alcaraz for a combined £6 million. Distin, Howard, and Osman all looked fine before this season (and two out of three are on pretty short term deals), Hibbert's actually looked alright at RB and all four players are good veterans to have around the club. I'm not sure how much money you think we have, but signing young talent is expensive – Cresswell for instance may end up costing West Ham as much as £7 million, which is £7 million more than we spent on signing Alcaraz and keeping Distin.

Yes and I forgot Eto'o, he is still here.

This passing style is back yesterday and God help us when we play Palace.

He's living in a different world to everyone else, he clearly can't see what's happening in front of him otherwise things would change.

He's stubborn in his ways and it's showing. No movement, static with the ball going from left to right, teams finding it far to easy to play against, we are the worst team in the league in every department and the form guide shows it

We've won 1 in 13, and are loosing valuable points to teams who are, unbelievably, in the relegation zone with us

This is roberto martinez at Everton, not wigan but everton and he's slowly ripping the heart and core from our team
