Drove one of these 40+ years ago. Worked as a milkman from the age of 18 till I was out of Uni - every summer.

Pelican Crossings, seems they've been replaced with 'Puffin Crossings' these days.

Puffins ffs, come on, who's ever seen a Puffin tryin' to cross the road ffs.


Australia Fact (McB might back this up) : In the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney there are lots of Minor Birds and those that frequent an area close to a road and a crossing have been known to replicate the beeping sound that the crossing makes. Minor Birds Popcornin' the blind.
 

When I was a kid, Wagon Wheels were made in the old mill right behind our house.
They were very popular in the village for some reason.
But they were massive.

Uncle Joe's Mintballs were made by my old headmasters' house.

He was from Woolshire and commuted to Walton.

Every bit of "waste ground" these days has a been acquired by some dodgy developer and is subject to several shady transactions leading to planning permission being granted. I actually feel sorry for kids these days having so few open spaces/derelict houses/demolished rubble to playing....

Take a drive down Kenny mate, Low Hill end. Apparently that's open space according to the council. Anyway. This is a happy thread.


Whatever happened to every single lad having a Ford Capri....
