Line up V Stoke

No mate look at the wider picture, loved seeing Besic doing what he was doing v QPR but the likes of Barry,Distin,Jags even Baines when they pick the ball up there's no options........none,so the ball goes back across the back line where by now the opponent has pushed up and are breathing down the necks of our back line who start to panic, any player including Barry are forced into misplaced passes or mistakes, now if Barry loses the ball he'll try and track back,if Besic loses the ball I think he'll hack a player down out of petulance and we'll be down to 10 men..............there's something very wrong with us and Barry seems to be getting the sh*t for it,but hey let's give Besic a go and when I'm proved right you'll openly apologise right????
I didn't realize I offended you so wouldn't see what I have to apologize for. It's an opinion.

It also doesn't mean I hate Barry or don't think he can be useful. Barry was wonderful for us last season and while I didn't think 3 years was a good idea I wasn't too vocal about that as it was a reward for last season.

However there is no I in team and a player can't continue to be picked when there are better options which in my opinion there are. I'm hoping that playing a backup role will actually get the best out of him. Look at Osman - towards the end when he was playing regularly he was a liability but now when he plays he's actually one of our better players. Barry will still get games and may even regain his place permanently but right now we need to change it.

Will Besic and McCarthy work?

I'm honestly not sure it will when needing to open teams up. So many goals come from midfielders running from deep and neither seems the player to do that however it will stabilize our defence and allow our fullbacks to get forward more. It might be best playing Barkley there for the easier games and both against the teams in the top 8.

Howard
Coleman Stones Jagielka Baines
Besic McCarthy
McGeady Barkley Mirallas
Lukaku

Robles Alcaraz Oviedo Barry Pienaar Naismith Eto'o

If McCarthy and Mirallas not fit put Oviedo on left wing and Naismith number 10 and move Barkley alongside Besic and put Kone and Garbutt on bench.

I'm not offended far from it,let's see Besic playing, let's see how he does,he may be fantastic,if so I'm buzzing,if not then there's the apologist angle..........I like opinion it's what makes the world the fantastic place it it

I want what's best for the blues,if I'm wrong I'll hold my hand up absolutely no problem,if Besic plays I hope I'm wrong I really do cos we need the points

My team would be gk howard rb coleman cb stones cb jagielka lb baines rm mcgeady cm mccarthy (if fit) or besic cm barkley lm mirallas (if fit) garbutt cam naismith cf lukaku 4-4-1-1

If he plays badly I'll admit it. I have been wanting Besic to replace Barry for a while and in his first proper start in Europe when he didn't play great I admitted that he wasn't ready. Likewise I'm sure and hope Barry will have good games again.

Would be mine, Naismith is doing more bad than good in terms of his contribution to the team. He's not scoring like he was at the start of the season and he's also not supplying the service for the striker that is vital for a CAM. Barkley has a better partnership with rom

Basically scored v QPR, been out injured and only just come back too.

Naismith has been one of the few highlights in what has been an ultimately dire season so far.

I'd like to see us go more direct, ball retention is all well and good if you're creating chances but we never look like scoring when teams have everyone back defending.

I'd give Kone a go. Him and Lukaku are both strong and pacy and would do well vs defenders with balls to run on to.

I can't see Martinez changing his tactics though unfortunately.

This.

Maybe pienaar for McGeady, but as it stands at the mo either or. Besic and Naismith unlucky to be left out but that would be my strongest 11 with balance to the side.

However in Naismith, Besic, etoo, Kone, Pienarr etc there's players there ready to take someone's place AS LONG as everyone's competing to play in there natural posistions NOT all over the show!

The problem is jags & distain aren't comfortable on the ball
And Barry is hardly a play maker and he hasn't been great in possession this year and it's not like he trying 40 yards passes
Teams are setting up to mark our full backs play with one forward and one attacking midfielder
So basically we have 6 defenders on the pitch ( with the 2 sitting midfielders) marking 4 players from the opposition
And they just let jags & distain have the ball

And no full well they will mess up before they do something good
Get stones in and by a similar left side CB and think will change
Because they can get to half way and see a pass
Then besic who has played CB can just fill in
And this will make it a lot tougher for the opposition

Until Martinez gets rid off jags & distain
His philosophy is going to struggle especially against teams who come to goodison to defend

Barry should not be starting ahead of Besic.
