Tim Howard

Howard says in Saturdays Echo that finding another him won't be easy,
I beg to differ surely average shot stoppers who are scared to come off their line, have no positional sense and cant catch a ball are
ten a penny - this bloke must think an awful lot of himself

Good goalkeepers (like De Gea recently) win teams matches. Tim Howard makes wonder saves when we're comfortable, and a game is basically wrapped up.

He continually swallows it in tight games. Sick of him [Poor language removed] flapping when the ball is right at him.

You've got to pay top dollar for a good, established goalkeeper unless you can unearth a gem. I think it will be next summer before we look to bring someone in, I'd go for Begovic but fear he'd be £16 mil plus - which is a lot for us to spend on a gk

I've slated Howard a fair bit in recent weeks with good reason.

Wouldn't say the goals yesterday were purely down to him of course, but would be nice to have a keeper who could save us a few times a season.

Becareful mate
You will get hounded down
By all his fans on here
There can't be many left apart from the Americans

But I agree a shocking keeper
Been on here for 2yrs going on about how poor he is
All keepers make mistakes
But surely if he costs you more points than he saves over the season
Then he's not up to the job
I said the other week on the Howard thread would he have lasted 8yrs at our so called top 7 rivals NOT A CHANCE

look at Liverpool already looking at replacing mignolet after 18months

You make a good point on liverpool dropping their keeper it will shake him up a bit.

Do we want to find another him?

Tbf de gea is coming into his prime while Howard's 35. Timmy is an ok not great keeper at this point in his career. Guzans going to pass him for the U.S. though

he couldnt come for any, you've no clue if you think he could
I have played as a goalkeeper and I have clue.
He isn't commanding at all. Certainly the 1st a corner into the 6 yard boxs most decent GK's would claim them.

Spot on. What i'd give to have a top gk like Martyn or a Southall again.

We've got cover at centre half to phase out Distin. Goalkeeper needs to be 100% top priority in January, this guy just doesn't save anything unless it actually hits him.

That unfortunately is quite true. I ain't the 2nd and 3rd goals yesterday but I was disappointed he didn't lift his left finger to try and at least stop the ball that was 4 inches to his left. He's been a great value for money but this season his form has been unacceptable. I hold Martinez accountable as well for sticking by him when there's been about 6 opportunities to drop him.

Why isn't he saving this? Are his feet in cement?
