The only reason that Liverpool even had a chance last night go qualify was due to Basel not winning at Ludogrets and not picking up at least a point at home to Madrid.

They were utterly outclassed by Basel last night. It was men against boys stuff. Not even a contest. Basel were faster, stronger and more technically gifted than Liverpool and probably cost about a fifth of the money spent on those duffers to assemble.

I bet that isn't lost on dem Yanks as they prepare themselves to be mugged by Gnashers on the eve of another transfer window.

How much longer do we have to put up with his incompetent as our manger ?

Spends over £200m on players and then tells us we are not good enough in a CL group that contained only one decent team;
Tells us that, under his management, we have a record of winning "must win" games, overlooking the back end of last season obviously;

Tells us that he has a "philosophy" on football - largely consisting of fitting square pegs into round holes one week and then selecting another set of square pegs the following week;

Tells us that he believes English players are as talented as continentals and then goes and blows £200m on largely continental players;

Tells us that Andy Carroll doesn't fit in with his philosophy and then buys Ricky bloody Lambert;

Tells us that coaching a defense is simple - pee myself laughing;

Can't see that Lucas is his best holding m/f player and prefers to ostracise him;

Picks one striker in the first X1 for home games with no other striker on the bench;

Tells us that Borini is the model for how LFC will asses footballers and then tries to offload him. When that doesn't work he ( unforgivably ! ) weakens the match day squad by leaving him out completely;

I could go on and on but what is the point. LFC is currently managed, at all levels, by people who know very little about the game and I seriously
believe that the tenure of this fool as manager will be viewed as a very low point in the long term demise of LFC.

Bring back Rafael asap.

All this crisis talk does my head in.

We're unbeaten in 4, turned the corner results wise, playing some good football, with our two world class strikers injured. Got a creditable draw against the Swiss champions who are themselves unbeaten in 6, and should have won - really missing balotelli's blend of pace, guile and power. Really just unfortunate imo.

Markovic looked really really bright, if not for the ferguson bought c*** of a ref who sent him off we would be here celebrating an impressive victory.

While we might not have won, still feel we have enough to get a result against the mancs. Sunday is a second chance, as Brendan puts it, for folklore.
