I like him. He's been good for the team. Still contributes on and off the field. So what if he's written a book, with footballing insights - just like other players. Might be interesting to fans of football. He likes to write - has a blog/newspaper column. I haven't seen anything untoward in the snippets. This book, in his testimonial year would not have been done without the blessing of the club.

I was watching Burnley the game with someone who had this view of Osman that you get here - any mistake (of his - no one else's) was a sure sign that he should be put down, whilst for getting the good stuff.

He's scored over 50 goals for us - he's missed a few too. 400 appearances. That doesn't happen if you are crap.

The bile on this thread is embarrassing.

Osman has always been my number one target, hibbo is just something to pass time if ossie does okay in a game

Thats why I brought it up, Hibbert has stepped in handily recently so the volume goes up vs Osman.

In my mind I have a picture of Hibbert as the Phantom of the Opera in some basement cave beneath Goodison typing away on some giant screen instead of playing the organ (oooh err) only it wouldn't be 'the Opera', it'd be 'the Osman'. The cape, the half mask, the lot.

I recall him scoring at Fulham, Palace and Villa. The crucifix Osman has had to endure is that he came through with a very decent youth side but that was butchered by a former owner and some god awful managers, he's had some utter dross to work with in terms of playing staff, and is now well over 30. Will go on to be a great coach because in terms of technique he has been one of the best and most two footed players we have had on the books besides the Barca youth Arteta's of this world.

When Osman is the weakest player in the side we do great - when Osman is the strongest player in the side we do awful.

50 goals in 400 games LOL, Average of 5 goals a season, Boss that

What does he contribute off the field mate?

1. Against the RS, City, Larissa

3. Great close control and passing

The rest is just nonsense
3. ??? Like the control against Sunderland?
He is the weakest player we've had for decades, and he's been a disaster in and around our penalty area since his debut. He has ability, and manages to do so something positive once or twice a game - though usually outweighed by the dross - but as he's got older, his limited impact in games has dwindled even further, and I can only imagine he's still getting game time due to the injuries to our limited squad.
He would never have got into any other top 6 side and before anyone mentions his England cap, think of the other players Hodgson has inexplicably called up, and ask why, even when we were struggling, no other club has even made an enquiry about him
