Nice photo from the 3 peaks cyclocross race yesterday:

If you're wondering why he looks surprised - check out the steerer on his bike. Snapped it, managed to avoid face-planting, then recovered and finished third! Joe Moses.

How was the Berlin Marathon @evilwebby ?

I had fun!
Got around in 3:59:10, with a good even pace throughout. Fueled with nothing but a scoop of Ucan in my water bottle (avg 25cal/hr) and took in water at the stops along the way. I realized I forgot my timing chip when I got to the start line, so had to leg it back to the hotel and then back again.. probably added 7-8 km onto my run! I think I did an unofficial ultra distance when all was done and dusted.

Legs utterly trashed afterwards.. how do people walk so easily after a marathon? They are obviously not trying hard enough.

There were 87 male double-starters (skate & run). They use a ratio of the winning skate time vs winning run time to equally weight both parts.. I came in 28th place, which is not too shabby at all :)

Well done mate.

Pulled my right calf muscle when running on Friday, rested it over the weekend and tried to do some light bike work yesterday - only lasted about 3 minutes before feeling it start to tighten again.

Looks like a couple of weeks or so without running. Absolutely gutted - even more so because I first felt it after my fitness test at work last week. Bloody typical that I get an injury on the back of that.

I was following the live coverage of the 2014 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii last night, especially the Women's race.

Amazing performance from Mirinda Carfrae to turn around a massive deficit of almost 15 minutes off the bike and run down the entire field to win a 3rd title. I didn't think she had a chance!

77kg now, was at 73.5 for ages, back to swimming and starving meself again.

Damnit.

Is this you in the video Bruce?

No, I don't have that kind of equipment unfortunately. 'Tis a mere illustration of the climb. Was a strong field though. Quite a few national hill climb riders were there. I suspect the chance to beat/compete with David Millar was a big draw. They were flying up there. I'm a decent climber, and am in the top 5% on Strava for that climb, yet they took 30/40 seconds out of me. Impressive stuff.
