Absolutely spot on. It'd take a brave manager backed by a chairman giving the assurance they wont bend to criticism from fans.

TBH though, I look at the strength of this league and think that if we put in three or four new faces surrounded by our experienced and talented PL players the project wouldn't be a disaster. Has Browning or Stones given the impression they cant handle it? I dont think so. Grant was ok on the summer tour last year and he looks like he can push on with a chance. Galloway has playing experience, it'd be less of a culture shock for him than many think. I'd also like to see more of Long. Has he got the movement required to go with a finish?

I dont know about you, but I'd applaud any decision to give up the chance to retain the 7th place trophy in order to take a long look at what we have below say 16 first teamers we know all about.

It wouldn't be throwing them all in at the one time. There's 31 league matches left. I think we could expect a manager to blend them in at the right moment.

I've been surprised at Martinez's reluctance to just put a far superior Browning in ahead of Hibbert. So I wont hold my breath at dramatic change. I'd really hate to think we employed a manager with fresh ideas and an open mind on team selection only to see him turn into a cautious 'let's get to 40 points' dullard by season two.
 
Surprised if true and disappointed also.

An experienced player should be able to handle constructive criticism given to them by their boss.

He may have problems in his personal life hence the time off pass?
 
Young man comes and pushes you into side. Why wouldnt he be pissed. Clearly Stones is the man for that job. Distin couldn't handle it.....if this story is true.

I feel this is pretty natural development.
Bobby wants his kind of players to be in pole position. Tough for Distin but you better man up Syl.
 

If someone in work did my job better and more efficient than me that saw me get moved onto another job i would not see my ass and throw a bitch fit... Thats life and a middle aged man should understand that

I think we are quite clearly in a transition year.
We have as problem with injuries that is not near ending so lets get the youngsters on the pitch this season.
Stones, Browning, Ledson and Long look like thay have good potential so Id imagine Bobby will play them when the time is right or when others options are exhausted/worse!

Depends how good the youngsters are, and while I agree that the only way to find out is to give them a game, it has to be done initially in a fairly safety first sort of way. The Prem is one of the hardest leagues in the world for a player to establish himself. I think Martinez is pretty good at giving youngsters a chance...he was praised last season for getting Barkley sort of established, and the consensus is that Stones would not have come through as quickly under our previous manager. I think Martinez is starting Hibbert because he does not want to expose Browning to a full game just yet...by mid season ,if for some reason Coleman is not available I can see Browning starting with Hibbert available to do the last 20 minutes. Interesting that you say that bringing a few good youngsters through to standard would save money. Every year, whatever the strength of our squad, certain factions of the support are going to demand that every single penny available is spent on players, whether we're top of the league or mid table.
