There was an interview a few months ago when Martinez was asked which player was closest to making the step up to the 1st team. He said Ty Browning, that's why everyone tips him. So IMO the lad also seems ready to bolster our defence and that's why we shouldn't sign any new centre backs this summer.

Glad he is doing well, hope his good performances mean he'll start getting games for Ireland as well.

He must have been no higher than sixth in Martinez' pecking order at CB. No way to foresee Stones would get hurt and the Milkman would curdle.
I disagree he was the 5th choice CB and no one could have seen how bad our defence would be.
