Someone post that at RAWK - please!

Think there may have been extenuating circumstances there mate.

Apparently Emlyn Hughes had just died. I take your point though. Thing is, when a fan-base seems tailor-made for the vulnerable to use as a crutch/diversion, this all-consuming 'fandom' is an accident waiting to happen.

I have never known such 'hair-trigger' zealots in my life - and 99% have hardly ever seen LFC play, other than on the telly.

I used to be an Everton 'nut', but I took a step back and enjoy it an awful lot more as a result.

I delight in our good times, but the bleak periods are managed with relative ease. :)

He knew there was still time to get the winner. Which we nearly got don't forget.

I thought his attitude was very responsible.

I don't want an emotional skipper......I want one who us professional enough to get his men back in position.

Compare that to Slippy making an absolute prat of himself and winding up with a yellow card.

He'll regret that happen he winds up suspended under the totting up system.

I'm an Everton fanatic. But I wouldn't kill myself if they lost. Christ.

The person that killed himself was obviously not very well in the first place and Liverpool not doing very well obviously triggered an unnatural reaction inside him which made him react in a more extreme way than what would be considered 'normal'. Mental health is complex and I don't think its as straight forward as 'Liverpool were losing so he killed himself'.

I'd agree with this. When you're severely depressed, the slightest thing can set you off. Things that you'd normally brush aside can really get to you. I know I've had bad days where Everton losing has got to me more than it should. He was probably in a really bad way to begin with and Liverpool losing just pushed him over the edge.

On another note, what is their mascot supposed to be? Is it a lobster?

It's a bit of an irresponsible piece tbh. The fella clearly had mental health issues quite a long time before this and the paper has tried to milk every LFC link it can possibly find. I'm not even sure as to what reason the Echo would do that. It doesn't put Liverpool fans in a good light particularly, it doesn't make the paper look good and the end of the day, a person has killed themselves still. Odd article.
