Have you thought about this?

Furthering on from my previous musings about the young Stirling. Could this rumour simply be made up by a kopite journalist to make people think he is some fantastic player?

It would support my thought that is is only half decent right now but the press are wanting everyone to think otherwise.

It isn't just a kopite journo. If you can stand it, have a listen to TalkSport (should be Talksh1te) and almost everyday, one of their presenters or more and almost all of their alleged experts proclaim Sterling to be the next best thing. I'm giving up listening to that station as the bias towards the RS is positively sickly at times.

Sterling's great playing a team at the pit where they'll have more of the ball against a defensive side. He'll get found out playing for England when you can't afford to give away possession as much. The amount of moves that break down because of him is ridiculous. True he scores a great goal or assists with a great piece of skill but until his end product improves then he shouldn't be classed anywhere near where the media are putting him. That improves though and in time he could be a great player. Personally I'd rather have Barkley, he's got a much better footballing brain and them kind of players tend to have a longer shelf life. Be very interesting to see where they both are in 5 years time.

I think players like Sterling are always over-rated. He relies mostly on pace to beat opponents, and he will lose that as he gets older and picks up more injuries and more defenders figure out how to handle him.

Barkley,on the other hand, has skill and strength in abundance and will become one of the greats.

Just my opinion.

A modern day Franz Carr with better control. Starve him of space and he's none existent. Uruguay marked him out of the game at the world cup. Unfortunately though, our expansive style of play is right up his street.

Agreed....Sterling's also got child bearing hips, runs like a woman and has an abnormally fat arse for a bloke. I predict injuries and a rapid loss of pace as he ages.

Barkley will become immense.

Nightmares of Franz Carr mate,I think he was the only winger Psycho Pat couldn't master!!

uefa drive me daft....what are they gonna do?...Liverpool are already in the champs league...uefa should have done this months ago and banned every club (starting with Man City & PSG) who broke the FFP rules....

the stupid thing is, you can blatantly break the FFP rule (resulting in a club having several players they shouldn't have) and you just get a fine.....accidentally play 1 illegitimate player for a couple of mins in a game you've already won comfortably, and UEFA consider that unforgivable Cheating and kick you out...

Not sure about that. I remember Psycho Pat being crunched by Carr at Goodison. He was down for about 5 mins. When he got up to give Carr the death stare he was in Forests left back position and was subbed moments later. Just as well for his sake. He was tricky at their gaff though.
