Would imagine Gibson may play on Sunday. Doubt Mirallas will and could see Sammy up front instead of Rom. As for league cup well we won't see any of Howard, Baines, Coleman, Barry, McCarthy and Rom play in that until we get to a quarter final if we get that far.

I think we're seeing Besic and Atsu bedded in slowly as they're new players coming to grips with how RM wants us to play. I'm sure we'll see more of them as they get more accustomed to our systems etc.

This is how I see it as well. I'm really excited about seeing Besic start a game but introducing him slowly is the best way. I can see Gibson starting vs Palace.

Besic, Atsu, Hibbert and Garbutt will definitely start in the league cup

Possible that our slow and undemanding pre season hadsome method to it, comprising our players being at full tilt for the opening games with this glut of matches coming up, without having to rest loads of players at this point, just a theory like, and roberto is a pyhsio so its unlikely he will have just gotten casual about pre season preperations

I think he'll rest 3 on Sunday and a different 3 on Tuesday with our best XI out for the Derby. Only a fool would select a second string XI for anything other than a dead rubber.

Does he bother going for it in Russia though? If I had my way he'd send the kids over and give the senior squad a rest. Can afford to lose 3 in EL especially now that Lille drew their opener.

Lukaku will play i think because he needs the minutes still. With it being at home I can see Atsu getting his first start.

Who would ever of thought just over 6 months ago, we would be saying to keep naismith and mcgeady wrapped in wool ?!
I think Gibson, Atsu and Eto'o need to get game time. Also if you leave Besic out now it may wreck the lads confidence after the back heel - i mean he may think, i made one mistake and now i wont play for weeks/months so whats the point ?
League cup is a tricky one, we could win it and get some long overdue silverware, but is it worth risking the europa league or fa cup ?
Bobby will look into his brown shoes and predict the future, finally bringing us cup glory of some sort. I never trust a guy who is constantly smiling but bobby is phenomenal.
