Tim Howard

Tim Howard has been on Twitter for about 3 weeks, he now has over 500k followers. Everton have 300k followers and have been on Twitter for years (one of the first UK clubs on it in fact). Just saying

I've been thinking it for a while and in my opinion, Howard is world class. He is a world class keeper on every level. The last 18 months/2 years he has added consistency to his all round game.

There isn't a keeper that i can think of that has better shot stopping. I would pick Howard every time. So for me, Howard is now in the world class category and rightly deserves the praise he has been receiving of late.

Honestly, as much as I don't think he's an all time great for us the way Sagar, West and Southall are, he's been a great servant for us and at his best he's won us games we shouldn't have won.

And the way he's had an Indian Summer over the last 18 months after basically being awful for the two years prior is a superb comeback. I thought he was over the hill and we'd seen the best of him but he's just somehow found that extra level he'd lost again and I can count on one hand the ammount of players I've seen to do that. It is really to his credit. And I'm delighted for him.

Still haven't forgot how many points he cost us during those 2 years of crapness, mind. I look at him playing out of skin this season and just think 'why couldn't you have done that vs Newxastle last year, Tim? Why?"

If he can keep up this form ill consider it, still think he has at fault for Lukaku's goal last night,

Neiler, your posts are usually reasoned and thoughtful but not this. This is where you go 'I never rated him but he had a great game last night', not blame him for Lukakus goal. He stopped the states loosing 6-0 last night, on his own. It was one of the most one sided games ever and still the USA got to extra time with a clean sheet. Good luck with your search for perfection!

Im going to stick to my guns here - hes been great over the last season - but i dont rate him - never have.

I don't think I'd point the finger at him for Lukaku's goal, but I do think he's weak at the near post. Doesn't shift his feet quick enough either, hence the susceptibility to long range shots.

Fantastic reflexes though - as good as anyone's.

I will eat my hat after I take my foot out of my mouth, Tim did USA proud last night and was admiittedly very good. I am taking believe in Tim pills and hope he can still produce next season.

how old are you if you dont mind me asking?

Credit due in part to Bergara. Highly rated as a coach and has brought out greater consistency in Tim imo

Pretty young, I was born in 87 and my first game at Goodison was 95. I can remember Southall (that FA cup final is where I fell in love with Football, and it's all been downhill since) but West and Sagar I only know cos of stories my Dad and Grandad told me.

That's part of being an evertonian though isn't it? Tales of the past handed down through the family and watching old games on video. I can only take their words on how good players I've never seen myself, were. But they told me that these guys were amazing and West & Sagar, unlike Tim, have the medals to prove it.

I'd be happy to call Howard one of the best keepers I've seen play for us at Everton. I think he's been better for us than Martyn has, tbh and Martyn had some top games for us.

But when you start using 'all time' like I got into this argument by disagreeing with Howard being the 'second best everton keeper of all time' you come up against my dad telling me he'd never seen a better save than one West made in the FA Cup and I ain't going to go against my dad.
