I suppose those that don't like it are feeling a little crest-fallen.

Success determines how well known you are, not whether you've got the name on the badge.
Agreed. It seems a little too "small club" for me. "Oh, and our name is Everton by the way!"

Just get a badge for us & when we become a juggernaut in the football world, everyone will know what the badge is.

Just getting the "nil satis nisi optimum" slogan back on the badge was a must, although we have had our best season in a long time once it had been removed! Which is pretty ...... Up!

... and so on.

I said success determines how well known you are, so you've replied with tons of SUCCESSFUL and WELL KNOWN teams. Are you saying they're only famous because they've got the name on the badge?

If we win the league next year, everyone in the world knows who we are. Having the name on the badge doesn't hurt as such, but it's nowhere near as important as some are making out.

As someone said above, it really is marketing 101. If you have success, then you want your name associated with that success. Very few brands have the brand power to communicate their entire business model with just an image - like Nike, for example, but even they utilise the word Nike extensively across their range.

It's all about the customer journey to your brand. Without the name, you're creating a two-step journey to brand identity right off the bat.
