ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Maybe they were rusty and not warmed up because they only got to play on weekends, its hard when you don't have the extra games mid week to get match fit you know.

Sturridge was fighting off injuries all season. His hamstrings will be like spaghetti by March next year.

If it was 'meet and right' for Libervomit to be Champions because of Hillsborough, then surely it was 'meet and right' for Juventus to have won the European Cup, when it was eventually played?
I was talking to a bloke in work today and he asked if I would have got any joy out of Liverpool winning the League. When I said that I wouldn't have he was really surprised. I explained about Heysel and their refusal to acknowledge what happened and the ensuing consequences. He asked what I meant by Heysel. He's mid-30s. I asked him if he knew about Hillsborough and, of course, he did. I was a little surprised but it shows how well the RS media protects them.

It's a classic. The call to arms to not slip followed by what happened a fortnight later ensures it'll be one of the most comical moments in sporting history.

It's football's Citizen Kane.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think he's had as much stick from the media as it deserves though. Social media has been loving it, but pundits and journos etc seem to have been trying to brush this huddle and their premature celebrations under the carpet. Probably because the media is infested with kopites and perhaps because he's england captain with the World Cup a few weeks away.

I hope that if and when the England team fail in Brazil, the media stick the knife right in and twist it because, from where I'm sitting, he and his club have got off lightly in the media. If United had behaved like Liverpool had (not that any other cub would) and cocked it up so horrendously, even with Fergie in charge, they'd have been slaughtered imo. Much more would have been made of the premature triumphalism.

In the last couple of weeks on here I've seen and posted the same gifs/pictures/videos again and again, I don't think any of them will ever get old or I'll ever think, "oh that video again".

They have provided us with a wonderful gift and it would be wrong of us to waste it.

And we've all enjoyed them mate. Keep up the good work, or should I say, don't let it slip ;) lol

No amount of summer signings will prepare this lot for what is coming next year. Their followers act like this is the first time they have qualified for europe. What short memories they have. They simply will not be able to sustain a certain standard to be able to compete on all fronts. As long as they qualify for europe each season, they will never find themselves in the position they were just 2 weeks ago. This season was the perfect storm for them.

What should be rather delightful is watching Brendan ' one plan ' Rodgers using his tactical nous in europe on the biggest stage of all. Should be a good show.

Yeah, spot on mate. He's definitely been treated with kid gloves over it. Maybe it is the England captaincy stuff. One things for sure, it cant ever be ignored. They can hold off talking about it (for now) in the MSM but it's never going away. This is his Steve McMahon '1 minute' to the title gee up moment. McMahon was defined by it and so will Gerrard be by his.
