ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

ha ha ha... Barca finished a distant 3rd the season before Pep took over. He created that amazing side.

Inter had just won about 3 titles in a row under Mancini, and Madrid had just equalled their record points total the season before Jose got that job!

Hardly dissary!

Fair point about Inter. Though it's equally fair to say that domestically Inter were a force, but in terms of European pedigree they struggled under Mancini. It cant be doubted what Mourinho added to the situation: kept the domestic dominance and brought the biggest prize in Europe to a club that hadn't won it for decades. As for Guardiola: that was a team who were La Liga and CL winners a couple of years before he'd stepped up to head coach. Point being he was part of a dynasty that came through after Cruyff - he was part of the continuum.

All told though I cant see where the debate is here. No one is comparing complete records, merely making the point that Mourinho saw off some of the best coaches in the game. He did do that didn't he? Saw off 'the best team on the planet ever' to win the La Liga title they owned (and got in Pep's head that much he spat the dummy out and eventually cut and run for a sabbatical!).

I don't understand all the media debate going on about this...... Chelsea were going to the home ground of the team at the top of the league and have been scoring for fun, they had half of their first 11 out injured. Liverpool have a world class strike force ths season..... What kind of bellend manager would go there with half a team and go all out attack ? Rodgers was shown up yesterday, he had no idea how to change the game and just continued playing the same way throughout the 90 mins..... He has no plan B.... It was ace to watch Stevie g laa shooting from 30 yards out over and over again because they had run out of ideas, Chelsea and Jose played this game perfectly.
Errrrmm mate.

Jose beat Guardiola's Barcelona 3 times. No other manager in europe beat them more than once.

He did more against them than anybody else did.

The record goes beyond just counting victories as well - the 2009-10 Champions League semi final second leg for instance, which Inter lost 1-0 but which they won on aggregate. One of the greatest defensive snidings ever seen on a football pitch anywhere, that game.

Just re-watched the game. Chelsea completely destroyed the RS. Brenda "We were undoubtedly the better team" was shellshocked.......

Created ?? Oh behave mate

Barcelona as a club have had a wonderful blueprint for football for decades, decades !! It was merely tweaked and by doing so, saw them improve even more. To say he created that is foolish and ignorant of those before him.

It is a sobering thought, but advanced conceptual metaphysical theory suggests that there is an alternate universe somewhere out there where the RS got Mourinho as manager in 2004, instead of Benitez.
