Antolin Alcaraz

Distin was not missed in the second half, Alcaraz just slotted into to the team nicely.

Could easily play against Southampton, should we have doubts on Distin (Keep Distin the City game).

He came on at half and was on less than a minute - yes, less than one minute! - before he made a massive contribution when he nipped the ball away from Rooney right before he struck a shot. Stones was marking Rooney, but had been turned inside out in this particular instance and Alcaraz was right there to help him.

Noticed that the four corners/free kicks he got a head to first after he came on, we could have got another two goals from them with a bit of luck.

Bang on mate. I thought Stonesy in the preseason got a couple of heads on the ball from corners (hit the post vJuventus?)...but maybe I imagined it. Alcaraz defo can get his head on them...finally a CB of ours who can.

Distin has been fantastic this season, and I don't see why Alcarez would be favoured over him after one appearance.

Everton have been great this season, so its hard for the boo boys to find someone to single out, sadly Distin gets it (not as much as Osman) a bit for the sake of it, which is a shame really.

If Distin isn't completely over the injury for when we make the trip to Southampton, I have no problems with Alcaraz stepping in.

He was great today and is just so calming when he gets on the ball. You know he's going to find a teammate with his pass.

He is a bit like Barry in that he has little pace but compensates by being very good at reading the game. He is excellent at calmly bringing the ball out from the back like the opposition midfield isn't there.

It is great that all three of our older CBs have their own valuable things to teach Stones to add to his already natural talent.

We've got some good options in the middle, and I've no qualms with Alcaraz playing at all. Even Duffy will be a reasonable back-up option having had a full season at Championship level under his belt.

Very similar view here. Old heads...and footballing talent like. Barry and Alcaraz. I love me some Distin...that pace is still scary good. If there were only some way to transfer Alcaraz's footballing skill or Distin's pace...we'd have the ideal CB. Stones could be that guy...just needs more experience.
