Barkley is currently being kept out of the side by Leon Osman. Barkley's decision making lets him down, he dilly dally's with the ball for too long before being dispossessed or making the wrong decision. He will improve this over time, and many think his best position is CM. But I think his assist ratio for this season tells its own story, and that's why Osman is keeping him out of the side. You need to be making the odd assist if you are playing behind the striker.
If Bony really is pony, and I'm not sure he is (they are raving about his ability to hold up play on NSNO), then just get Tadic and either Remy or Batshuyi. Mirallas can then play on the right. But yeah, I'd sacrifice Mirallas and have Mcgeady play right wing if it meant we got a boss number 10 that would assist, create and score goals.
It makes me sad that somebody would pick Bony over Barkley, I guess I must bow to the knowledge base that is NSNO I suppose.

Nobody has said that. But they have lauded his ability to hold up the ball and think he is a player that would fit into Martinez' system. Nine goals in a poor Swansea side doesn't sound too bad either.
Barkley has shown great promise but he has a long way to go, and that is why he is being kept out of the side by Leon Osman. Osman has four assists, Barkley has none. So there is no wonder that Osman is being selected ahead of Barkley in that position.
and yet when it really counted against arsenal barkley got picked, doing something osman could never do with that run, osman also, gave the ball away more than anyone against cardiff, I'm not sure what berto's plan is but i dont... no i cant believe he rates osman over barkley
Well Ross does have 2 more goals than Osman and im not a fan of assist stats, take Lukakus goals versus Arsenal, who gets the assist for that? Mirallas? with his missed shot, who really ASSISTED the goal, im pretty sure I would say it was Ross with his run, the stats dont show that tho, hence why I prefer to on the whole ignore stats.
And before Ross got injured he was definitely first choice. Roberto said he brought him back too soon v the [Poor language removed] and this was a setback to his recovery.

I think its a case of Osman getting picked for the easier teams at home, where he is bound to pick up an assist or two just by law of averages. Plus Barkley was being kept out as he was injured and yet to re-discover his blistering form of earlier in the season.
Bony would be a good permenant replacement for Lukaku but why you would have him playing behind Remy, if you meant that, i have no idea.

I don't think stats should be treated as gospel either. There were people referring to Fellaini having the 'most touches per game' as if that was something to rave about, as if taking 2 or 3 touches in executing a maneuver was somehow superior to executing it with one touch. Never mind the fact that there are no such statistics for tracking runners or reading the game.
Barkley has a very bright future, and I'm one of the people who think his best football will come from a central midfield position. But I'd rather have a more experienced, more creative number 10 playing behind our striker than Barkley or Osman next season.
Barkley is out of form, it happens. He's gonna be boss though.
I can't think of many I'd swap him for. Its one thing having a boss player doing all sorts of wrong to the opposition while playing for us. But miles better when that boss player is a local lad and a blue to boot.
He's living each and every one of our dreams. Can't put a value on that, and it wouldn't be Bony anyway.

I honestly dont know how you can keep up such an intense hatred of him. I know sometimes he gives you good reason, but you can't keep it up for so long. Its unhealthy.
