This is bollocks.

DEM DER OUTSIDERS ARE DER ONEZ CLOGGING UP ARE PRIZONS COZ THEY ARRIVE HARDENED CRIMINALS INNIT.

Just one question, and this is riling me up for a long time and no one really answers - Nik, and all here, do you realise that BULGARIANS AND ROMANIANS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TRAVEL TO THE UK FREELY, AND LIVE, WORK AND DO WHATEVER THEY PLEASE FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS? This is NOT new. Nothing is new. We've just been given the 'benefit' of our documents for national insurance numbers to be processed quicker and work permits to be granted upon arrival, instead of waiting 2-6 months.

NOTHING IS CHANGED. IT JUST TAKES LESS TIME TO START WORKING NOW.

Do you understand this? Because the UKIP are saying it as if it's something new - it's not. Unless it's 2007 again when it actually was new - that is the year that both Bulgaria and Romania joined the EU, by the way.

I'm assuming you know but is that correct?

Could a romanian, for instance, move to this country, apply for social housing, claim benefits, send his children to school here and access full medical treatment completely unrestricted?

General public have no idea about immigration system or the benefits system, which is why a sensible debate never happens, it's like Ross Barkley trying to debate quantum physics with that bloke out of d:ream

While not instantly - yes, he could. He'd have to barely make ends meet/live off savings until he gets documents and is able to work, but - yes, and I know people who have done something similar.

Put it this way - I've arrived in 2012, right, before the laws that the UKIP are making up had been "passed". I arrived here with my Bulgarian National ID, didn't need to go through customs or anything. While I am studying here - I've been able to receive free healthcare and the likes since I arrived, but I wasn't able to work until I applied for a work permit (which I didn't, as I just waited until this year so that the laws about that drop - this is the only change of things).

Benefits - heavily depend on a lot of things, hence you have to meet an adviser (right?) to receive them, if I'm not mistaken...

There's not much point when people get so touchy. I'm not saying that every single immigrant from a poorer background is here for benefits and crime, but lots are, and unless they can bring a desirable skill set to the table then it should be a fat no thank you.

See exhibit a: Australia.

No one thinks they are racists for protecting their borders, bit if an englander hints at wanting to do the same they are not allowed. We even Have a Bulgarian weighing in on our social issues and getting all offended and taking what in saying the wrong way. It's funny because you yourself arnt fond of lots of people from different countries, and your dislike runs a lot deeper than mine. I know coz you've told me. So why is it ok for my country to be invaded by less than desirable people but not yours?

Sorry for the crusades but this is 2014.

So before these new laws kicked in where you able to bring family over to this country to live without them supporting themselves?

Not being a smartarse BTW I didn't know that was the case.

I assumed that only the person with the WP was allowed into the country

I'm not fond of people from Turkey and Romania, for personal reasons, but that doesn't make our borders any different towards them at all. In fact, they're still opened in the same sense they were when I told you that, and Bulgaria benefits, to an extent, from having said immigrants. I don't like how they conduct themselves around (the Turks at least), but that's MY issue with it, not someone else's. Or are you referring to gypsies*?

I'm weighing in on "Your" social issues because, more or less, the involve me directly, and I'm amazed you aren't able to see this.

Suppose we should close our borders and keep in jail and be racist to all the English people that come to get sh*tfaced in Bulgaria every summer and end up in jail because have no idea what laws are, and just see cheap booze? Also, since you didn't answer, I'm assuming you had 0 clue about how the laws actually were and you're just fueling your DailyMail-inspired hatred from UKIP 'facts':

"28 million will come to the UK in the next year" - that's the combined total of Bulgarians and Romanians together.
"British Airways have no tickets from Bulgaria, everything sold out" - the way that article was means that people bought tickets for £1000+. Does that make sense to you when you think about it? We have no money - let's buy tickets for THOUSANDS.
"Millions come in the first 2 weeks" - probably the only correct statement. Many Romanians and Bulgarians and, well, everyone, went back for the holidays and came to the UK to continue living/studying/working.

So before these new laws kicked in where you able to bring family over to this country to live without them supporting themselves?

Nope, everyone was allowed, as per European Union laws.

*Gypsies in Eastern Europe are absolutely nothing like the Travelling Community, but that's a different topic.

Who ever said close the borders?

No one has said that.

That just doesn't make sense but it always the way people will deliberately take it.

And you'll be perfectly fine here to say you don't like Turks because of the way they conduct themselves but if I said I don't like the way many many Muslims conduct themselves I'd be hitler I reincarnated. It's just double standard after double standard.

Thanks for not answering anything else, again.

Anyway, it is amazingly racist of me to say that, I'm not even denying it. And I'm sorry if any Turks/Romanians are here - it's personal experience. This doesn't make it any less racist, I'm just saying I don't hate absolutely all of them, but rather the ones that have hurt, bullied and offended me. I've been to Turkey and it was amazing, despite the fact that behind their smiles they were swearing at us in Turkish - the service was great. It's the same for when they are here.
