From OS
"alongside awarding new contracts to Leon Osman, Phil Jagielka, Sylvain Distin, Seamus Coleman and Tim Howard. "

When did we offer Coleman a new contract?
Osman best not have signed a new contract.

He needs to be f'd off as soon as possible.

Hibbo is gone end of the season, wouldn't it be amazing if his mate Leon joined him in retirement?

So basically City have lost nearly twice what our yearly turnover is since the start of that accounting period?

Profit keeps the creditors happy (bank), Cash Flow keeps the creditors and the club happy (means we can dish out the money to invest in players etc) so yes the money may not flow in immediately but it still enables the club to use that money (if necessary by borrowing) at some point.

There's a saying in business, turnover is vanity, profit is sanity but cash flow is king.

Not had a chance to look at the accounts yet, just read the headlines, and not really read all the points made on the forum...

Think we'll just have to see this season out, has been entertaining but clearly not the finished article. Need to wait until summer and hope the board backs Martinez. My one hope is that we can buy some players and not rely on the loan system. Short term it's ok but we need to build a team for the future. Patience is difficult but it's what we have to endure for the time being. Onwards and upwards.

I am no accountant, but football accounts dont really tell the same story re "profit" on player sales do they?

Like the Fellaini money will be paid over 3 years or so in all likelyhood, so there wont be an extra £12m in the accounts next year for example.

Or am I tilting at windmills?

If the money is gauranteed (not dependant on appearances etc...) the full amount would show in the P&L as a sale but the amount outstanding would show in the BS as a debtor, normally broken down to due within 1 year and due after 1 year.

Man U 74,000 (typical)
Arsenal 60,000
Everton 37,000 (typical)

Ticket prices (100 = Everton)
Arsenal 250
Man U 120
Everton 100

So on PL match revenue alone - Arsenal 400 Man U 240 Everton 100 (Everton = 100)

Champions League Revenue
Arsenal YES
Man U YES
Everton NO

Hospitality - Corporate
Arsenal BIG BIG YES
Man U BIG YES
Everton not really

When you factor in all that - and the 5-6 CL games are worth significant revenues that's why we're far behind them.

Agreed...and it also gives an indication that not getting CL this season would be far more harmful to the RS that in would be to Everton.Getting into the CL proper would be a major boost for Everton, for the RS its almost essential that they get in. Whatever we do this season, I think the really big push, and test of Robertos skill and the clubs ambition will be next season. The summer should be very interesting.

Oh that is not on message with Chairman Bill when he told Bobby that it CFL, this season.

Think that you are imagining things, or deliberately misquoting in order to fit some anti-board agenda.
Show me one example of where either Kenwright or Martinez has said that we would get in the champions league spots this season.

Let's go with the assumption there is money to spend, as it's a logical conclusion.

I'm curious as to why some people on here are desperate to spend that money now just because of the injuries? It will inflate the wage bill and then leave us with too many well paid players kicking their heels when the injuries subside.

I can see the logic of bringing in Traore to replace Kone, and potentially a midfielder to cover Gibson and, if available, an upgrade on Jelavic, but beyond that? I'd far prefer we saved money for the summer and perhaps have a crack at buying Lukaku or even Traore permanently, then bringing in a couple of loans in other positions.

Ambition.

I think you just answered your own question
