'Kopites are on twitter...could be trouble...'

Ha Ha Ha. Like they have a leg to stand on with the pic of Sakho saluting.

They're just out to get anyone because they made complete fools of themselves on Suarez.

They should know better as well.

I never knew what it meant until the media poured all over it and explained. Mountain=molehill.

The mountain in question is the 'comedian' who first originated the gesture. His comments are clearly anti-Jew. He sees the Jews as a 'victim culture', who use that status to their advantage. So him using that gesture to tell the world this in a wordless way is offensive to those who rank the Holocaust above any crimes Israel may have committed.

Sound familar?

It's too sensitive to use at the moment. That's why some are using it in support of Palestine, rather than against the Jews. Turning it from a negative energy into a positive one. I hope this persists.

Like you say it becomes tit for tat. So why is this thread now about moral point-scoring against kopites? Those in the red corner having a go at us for Lukaku's comments are seriously in the wrong. We shouldn't even humour them with a response. If we go on about Hillsborough, they'll go on about "murderers". And so it goes...tit for tat.

When the debate shouldn't even be about the red side, in my opinion. We should be looking to understand the gesture and the 'offence taken'.

Agree mate, lets forget about Liverpool.

He's not even our player anyway... remember, we're Everloan and Lukaku is Chelsea's player, as Kopites delight in telling us when it suits their particular silly argument.... .:coffee:

You can choose to be a Jew but you can't choose the colour of your skin or ethnic background innit

no, mate.

Jewish is a race of people who follow judaism as their religion.

EDIT: the Wikipedia "who is a Jew" sheds some light on this:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who_is_a_Jew%3F

And ifya know your history, then you know it's a sensitive subject to hate speech against Jews as a people. It's also very wrong.

On the other hand: criticism of Israeli politics is often (and incorrectly) labelled anti-semitism as a defence mechanismus.

The quenelle was originally meant to signify the first, but it's being used by younger people to signify the second.

I apologise if it's wrong but I don't separate a British born white Jew from a British born white Christian. They're both white British.

I agree there. Usually confused by those on the right.

Its weird though. In France, its the right who are certainly anti Israeli and anti-Semite.

See Jean Marie La Pen

France is very strange on this.

Its why this 'salute' thing was allowed to happen. Everything there is slurs by innuendo. In the UK you just don't get away with it. People see straight through it usually.

Lukaku should of just said nothing let the FA and the authorities sort it out. Anelka should grow up.

The same Liverpool football club whose fans make monkey gestures, and whose players wore t shirts defending a racist.
