Loan watch

It's definitely a Martinez thing isn't it?

I mean this should always have been the way. Young players, who aren't quite ready for the first team, sent out for proper competition first team games. Can't beat that for prep.

Can't really understand why we didn't do it too much before.

In the last 18 months of Moyes we loaned out:
Barkley x 2
Duffy
Lundstram
McAleny
Garbutt
Gueye
Wallace
Forshaw
Bidwell
Nsiala
Orengua
Baxter

Vellios had potential to be a good squad player with us for some years. Even Martinez said so himself, just a shame he wouldn't go out on loan. Maybe he will have changed his mind by now.

Was it him that looked really sharp in the first few pre-season games? The OS says he's a winger but he looked more of a CM to me.

Kenny's only 16 so it's to his credit that he's played so often for the U21s this season.

Yep. He played cm for us in pre season and looked decent.

Martinez said the reserve league isn't good enough for youth development and I completely agree. Sending the youngsters out to the conference, L2 or L1 where there's competitive football going on will certainly help them rather than playing in a league where no one really cares if they win or lose.

Maybe Martinez will sell a loan to Vellios better than Moyes.

Can't really understand why we didn't do it too much before. The likes of Barkley and Coleman had good spells out, Coleman especially, but it's great to see so many out at the moment.

I was even a little bit proud when Hope scored at the weekend. Past NEWPORT COUNTY.

Its the way it should be. They learn nothing in Under21 Development league its ridiculous. I still think they should invent Everton B, Chelsea B and so on

I doubt that will ever happen formally, but there's no reason why it couldn't happen informally? I mean take Tranmere for instance. The club could easily strike up a partnership with them whereby Tranmere benefit from our coaching expertise (The Everton Way), maybe even use our facilities now and then.

That would ensure that Tranmere play in a way that educates our kids in the right way. We'd then make sure as many of our youngsters go there on loan as possible. Likewise, if Tranmere ever get any good kids on their books, they'd have a good route to the Premier League through us.

Could even use this for coach development as well, sending people doing their coaching qualifications to our partner clubs to get experience in professional environments.

Do that with a couple of clubs and you'd have as good as a B team in the lower leagues.
