Staveros, that's a bluekipper name I remember. I do recall he was a blert there too.

No no no. He was the most knowledgable poster possible. He knew every little intricacy of absolutely everything that happened on a football field.

Oh, alright then, he was a tool. I wonder if he ever comes on here? I'm sure he had an account here years ago

May I point out that Vitor Pereria is currently eighteen points off the league leaders with the richest team in Saudi Arabia and the poster bluejock actually wrote this in May last year.

Out of contract in the summer
Plays sexy togger
Wears a captain's armband
Mout and Defour to replace Fellaini
Handsome son of a gun
About to win league undefeated

But no, let's pay compo to fat Tory twig leg Whelan for about to be relegated Martinez because he won a cup v 10 man City.

To be fair you say Richest but they have absolutely nobody in teh squad that suggests they should be ripping it up. Especially when Al Hilal are one of the best teams (Co-incidently they have Segundo Castillo!)

And the league leaders have EVERTON upfront for them! So you know, how can anyone beat em?

-

Im pretty sure you meant the Al Ahli in the UAE by the way. The ones with Grafite, Hugo Viana and Jimenez.

Decided to check, '

Al Ahli (Qatar)
Al Ahli (Saudi Arabia)
Al Ahli (Jordan)
Al Akhaa Al Ahli (Lebanon)
Al Ahli (Bahrain)
Al Ahli Tripoli (Libya)
Al Ahli San'a (Yemen)
Al Ahli (United Arab Emirates)
Al Ahli Benghazi (Libya)
Al Ahli (Lebanon)

Easily mixed up i guess... Why so many ffs.

Well, he has to be diplomatic. He couldn't very well say working with Kenwright wasn't an attraction when it was put to him in such a leading way. That said, and as he stated, control over a club is very important and he had that at Swansea and Wigan. For a manager at Martinez's stage of career Everton and Kenwright are a perfect fit: a leap up from Wigan in terms of player quality and status in the game, and a chairman who wont panic and get shut to appease doubters if 'the project' started off on the wrong foot.

But while things are fine now, I can easily see friction in the future when Martinez is able to smell success but not able to taste it. He's in the middle of his second transfer window and surely under no illusion about restraints in the transfer market to achieve what he wants with us. I'm sure he'd like a happy medium between a megalomaniac billionaire and a financially limited paternalist owner like Kenwright. I dont think many are knocking about though.
I do see what you're saying Dave, but isn't Martinez a self confessed advocate of hard work & development leading to success? He said not long after he became our manager that all money does is "accelerate the process" and the most important thing about building a team to go places is having the time to do it. This is personally why I think he took a liking to Kenwright.

You could say "well he's gonna say that to appease the fans and the boardroom because we're skint" but would he really say it if he knew he may potentially end up burning bridges if he starts soundbiting off about the lack of funds in the near future? I don't think he would simply because of how detailed he speaks about development of young players, his fondness of the loan market, and his general positivity and repertoire with the fans. He ain't Moyes, that's for sure.

I didn't want Martinez. He's proved me wrong. If he can do that. He can do anything.

He just gets better and better.

Barry and Mccarthy
