Everton aren’t any better, they’re just luckier

I had been arguing with some of my Blue mates about this, and all what is happening right know, is proving me right.

This is why I wanted Moyes gone 18 months ago.

For the fisrt 6-8 years, he was perfic, he gave us stability, exactly when we needed it. But after that, he held us back.

This was when Moyes lost touch, or never really 'got' Everton. We wanted more, we wanted to push on, as that is what our Club has done, and has a history of Winning. He could not deliver on that expectation of actually going for it.

We went from a midfield of Kilban, Carsley, Li Tie, Graveson, to Fellaini, Pinaar, Mirralas & Barkley, still using the same negative attitude, yet it was US who was wrong to expect more.

Class article. That's basically fraud the 'journalist' receiving money for that.

Forget aging players like Distin, Osman, Barry, et al, for me the key moment of next year will be who we replace Lukaku with.

This could shape how far we go and how fast we do it. We are a completely different prospect with a 20+ goal a season striker in the team.

It's a rather obvious statement but true nonetheless.

The bit where they base the quality of the defense and offense on purely goals/scored conceded is comical, I'd say the offense has got stronger and the defense is weaker if anything, such a mockery

I would agree entirely. The defense are making more mistakes, but as they are happening further up the pitch they are not being capitalised on by the opposition so often.

Attack is the first form of defense.

Martinez has done great to bring in Lukaku on loan but he won't be here at the end of the season and that's a concern.

Masterstroke by Martinez here, every man and his dog knows that centre forwards at Everton go on the scrap heap after 9-12 months anyway.

I think it's to do with St. Lukes, God himself must have a curse on us.

Exactly how i've felt mate. I also feel that alot of the media were hoping that the foundations moyes had built would crumble under martinez. Articles like the one above are wrote by bitter little nobodies who have only based their views on what they have seen on MOTD. Also the hype that had been made of the likes of spurs, arsenal, chelsea and city by your usual brown nosing pundits has just stimulated a sense of bitterness towards us doing so well. What im basically saying is that im getting a sense of genuine jealousy and worry from these people as they'd all but written us off. How wrong they were.

I agree with a lot of what you have said but at the end of the day, realistically, the same thing that prevented Moyes from breaking the top 4 in recent seasons, willl prevent Martinez from doing so. We can't compete for the whole season due to a lack of signings and lack of money. It's Kenwright's lack of funds that is holding us back in my opinion. Martinez has done great to bring in Lukaku on loan but he won't be here at the end of the season and that's a concern. If we had a player like Lukaku permanently then we would be in a great position to break in to the top 4 in the next couple of seasons.

The likes of Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal, who were all our most likely rivals for the last 4th spot at the start of the season, can strenghten their teams with big money signings each transfer window. We can't compete with that.

Who knows eh?

Liverpool Strengethened (or at least spent a fortune) two years ago, yet finished below us, they then strengthened again, yet, again, finished below us.

If the goings on at this point of the season teach you one thing, let it be, Anything is possible, anything at all.

Bollocks.

Nothing lucky about scoring late goals or unlucky about conceding them. You play from the first whistle to the last.

The whole, spending more on players means success is a big fat myth.

The 1 nailed on guarentee, guide to league positions, is wages.

Plus a lot of it's got to do with fitness, perseverance, changing style of play and concentration levels - all important parts of football.

fully agree with this mate. I dont think that spending wedges is the be all and end all, some people will laugh at me saying that but its true. so many ingredients go into a successful team, the main one in my book is BELIEF

Metro though. The free paper that shows you get what you pay for

Total bilge - no wonder they didn't put their name to it!

Written by either a plastic kopite or an armchair Manc - nailed on.

Noticed no "Journalist" has left their name to that shocking arcticle

Well, Metro has nothing to do with it, neither does a "Journalist", it was written by "one of us", it's a piece by Royal Blue Mersey who write a regular blogpost on Metro's website
