No I'm saying the energy should be on coaching rather than scouting, at that age.

To use your own metaphor, I'd rather concentrate on hiring better teachers for 11 year olds than hiring better kids.

11 is too early to tell if they'll make it so it's waste of time to scour the world for the best 11 year olds. 90 out of 100 good 11 year olds won't make it. So you bring in 1000 good ones and give them the best coaching, you don't bring in the best 100 because you can't tell that early who the best are.

They have just spotted a good footballer, and are offering him better coaching. That is it. They have prob spotted a few more, but we dont have a youtube clip of them.

He will just be 1 of the 800 they will add to their accademy, one of the many they have all over the world.

So what if he doesn't make it. You can be sure that he will be one of the better players at whatever level he is playing at.

Its just good education.

Also, we do have examples of picking them at 11, can work.....Rooney & Messi. Just the first 2 in my head.

I think we agree more than disagree here pabbers.

I have no problem with bringing him and training him, just the idea that he's got more than a 1 in 10 chance of doing anything.

Its just the media thats saying that though mate.

To me, just looks like another kid getting a chance to better himself, makes a story because we have a youtube clip of him.

They won't know about that at his age, he has to get slapped in the face with life (women, money etc.) to find that out, that's where chance enters in.
True. reminds me of a guy who went out with my sister who was a really good artist. He told me that as a kid he'd learned to play the guitar and got to a good level then one day he picked up a pencil, started drawing and realised he preferred that to playing the guitar.

Guess what?

This would be a non-story if we had the same kind of set up with the same level of professionalism that La Liga has.

But, since we don't....
